Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $5,000+ Tigers v Sea Eagles competition

Front Row Forward

Jake Trbojevic ($15,200)

Trbojevic has been a workhorse all season, giving the Sea Eagles toughness and leadership through the middle. His massive frame allows him to stop anything coming his way and this leads to some big tackling numbers. In attack, he’s one of the safest ball runners going around and he almost always racks up 150+ metres. Due to his ability to read the play, he runs great lines and is often a handful close to the try line which has seen him score six tries already this season, including one against the Tigers in Round 19.

Alex Twal ($10,800)

Even with the likes of Russell Packer and Ben Matulino joining the Tigers next season, Twal has certainly staked his claim to be a big part of the club’s future. His play has been terrific since joining the club, with the young prop giving the Tigers consistent tackling efforts and plenty of hit ups. His Draftstars scoring has been remarkable consistent too, with Twal scoring between 42.3 and 48.6 points in each of his five games.

Hooker

Matt McIlwrick ($8,600)

McIlwrick has been tasked with being the number one hooker at the club for the end of the season and it has been a dream for Draftstars owners. Despite his limited impact on the park, his sheer playing time results in massive tackling numbers which makes him a solid scorer. In the last four games he’s averaged 74 minutes and 44 tackles, so there’s no doubt he’ll provide good value at under $9k in this contest.

Second Row Forward

Matthew Eisenhuth ($11,450)

Similarly to Twal, Eisenhuth has been a revelation for the Tigers late this season and should be a big part of their future under Ivan Cleary. The coach loves this bloke so much that he moved stalwart Elijah Taylor to the back-row to accommodate for him at lock and he hasn’t disappointed. Last week he ran 101 metres, made two tackle breaks and laid 42 tackles in a great performance through the middle. His ball playing ability gives him an added dimension and will make him tough to stop this weekend.

Shaun Lane ($7,700)

After barely being sighted at the top level in the last 18 months, Lane has been solid in his return with the Sea Eagles. Since returning five weeks ago he’s had three 80 minute performances in the back-row, impressing in each performance. When the Sea Eagles played the Tigers last, Lane scored his only try of the season, made 21 tackles and ran for 104 metres in a handy performance on the edge. He should have a similar role this week and given his price, he is highly likely to be the best value option in this contest.

Centre

Brad Parker ($6,400)

The red headed back had the best game of his short career last week, scoring a try, assisting another and making four tackle breaks against the Roosters. It was his first ever start in the centres, after playing a handful on the wing and from the bench, and his comfort level in the position showed. As a local junior, the Sea Eagles will be keen to keep Parker around and he will be looking to consolidate his spot in the side with another strong performance in the lead up to finals.

Half

Apisai Koroisau ($11,700)

Koroisau had one of his better games last week, with the attacking dynamo providing great defence as well. He’s always tough to handle with his running game and passing ability out of dummy-half, but last week it was his tackling that stood out as he made 36 from 37. The development in his attacking game this season has been crucial to the Sea Eagles improvement and against a lacklustre Tigers’ defence he should wreak havoc. In a stacked halves crop, any of Koroisau, Lolohea, Brooks and Walker would be fine selections.

Wing/Fullback

James Tedesco ($15,300)

Tedesco is coming to the end of his tenure at the Tigers, but there is no doubt he can hold his head high. He continues to perform at a high level in losing teams and last week was no different as he broke a whopping fourteen tackles. This continues his recent run of form, which has included three tries in the last five weeks, plenty of tackle busts and of course, massive metre numbers. He is the most consistently good scorer in this contest, so lock him in and reap the benefits.

David Nofoaluma ($12,500)

Nofo has enjoyed a career best season despite the Tigers struggles and should continue his rise against the Sea Eagles this week. His tackle breaking ability is well known by now, while his offloading has allowed for plenty of second phase play this year. He’s averaging 45.2 Draftstars points because of this and is one of the most consistent wingers in fantasy land. Last week he finished with two tries and if the Tigers are to spring an upset, there is every chance Nofo will have had a big say in the result.
