Defenders
Zak Jones – Sydney Swans – $10,800
The wide-open spaces of Domain Stadium will suit Jones’ hard running. He has improved rapidly already this season, improving his disposal output from 15 to 22 per game. Jones ranks second at the Swans for uncontested possessions and handball-receives, and fifth overall for disposals.
Jeremy Howe – Collingwood – $12,650
Howe’s intercepting makes him the ideal choice in fantasy. He ranks equal-fourth in the AFL for intercept marks this season with 10, averaging a career-high 86 points. He has also found more of the ball this season than ever before – averaging 21 disposals and seven marks.
Forwards
Daniel Menzel – Geelong Cats – $11,550
Menzel loves the big stage, and there is none bigger than an Easter Monday clash against Hawthorn. He ranks second at the club for inside 50 targets and marks in that zone, as well as third for disposals, with only Tom Hawkins scoring more goals than his 10.
Devon Smith – Greater Western Sydney – $12,450
Smith scored 105 points in his most recent match at Manuka Oval, which included recording 17 disposals and 14 tackles. He has improved his scores by eight per game this season and he has hit the scoreboard more often, averaging two goals. His scoring accuracy of 86% is also a career-high return.
Midfielders
Patrick Dangerfield – Geelong Cats – $17,550
Dangerfield’s first match in Geelong colours was against Hawthorn in Round 1 last season. He announced himself that day, finishing with 43 disposals, five marks, five tackles and 137 points. Dangerfield is averaging a career-high 32 disposals and 124 points already in 2017.
Tom Rockilff – Brisbane Lions – $17,250
Rockliff’s average of 29 disposals against the Tigers is his second-best return against any side in the AFL. He finished with 32 disposals, five marks, six tackles and 116 points when he last came up against the Tigers at home in 2014.
Jobe Watson – Essendon – $15,400
Watson has been a consistent scorer interstate across his past three seasons, averaging at least 100 points each year. He has already racked up 104 points in his only game away from home this season against Brisbane, finishing with 33 disposals and eight marks.
Leigh Montagna – St Kilda – $14,900
Montagna was exceptional last week against Brisbane on his way to 135 points. He patrolled the backline and was handed the ball at every opportunity, recording nine handball-receives and 19 uncontested possessions. Montagna scored 160 points in his most recent match against Collingwood.
David Swallow – Gold Coast Suns – $11,100
After missing the season opener through injury, Swallow has hit the ground running, scoring 89 and 120 points across the past two rounds. He had a field day against the Hawks last weekend, finishing with 34 disposals and six tackles. He also attended 15 centre bounces, the equal second-most of any Suns midfielder.
Rucks
Jake Spencer – Melbourne – $7,200
With Max Gawn sidelined for up to three months, Spencer will be handed the No.1 ruck role at the Demons. He has always been a backup at Melbourne, but as the sole ruckman that now changes. In the VFL across the past two seasons, he has averaged 96 and 89 points respectively.
