AFL $25,000+ Sunday Line-Up

There are three absolute belters on this particular Draftstars Sunday and there is no better way to celebrate then by entering the $25,000 contest. Plenty of value on offer and some interesting propositions in this line-up. ‘Gotta be bold, I guess.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Josh J. Kennedy ($11,300)

Joshua J. Kennedy made his return to the Eagles side after a reasonable stint on the sidelines with injury. The reigning Coleman Medallist was solid against the Dockers, booting three majors on his way to 74 Draftstars points. The Pies aren’t exactly known for their brilliant tall defence, and JJK will eyeing off a bag against his likely opponent in Lynden Dunn. It’s risky picking key forwards but there are definite positives with this one.

Daniel Wells ($10,800)

Daniel Wells also made his way back into the line-up from (surprise, surprise) injury, faring ok in conditions that really don’t suit him. Wells kicked two goals and collected 18 disposals in the pouring rain at Metricon, posting a solid total of 78 Draftstars points. Collingwood are 5-2 with him in the side and absolutely love the ball in his hands. Expect him to perform much better in dry conditions at the ‘G.

Midfield

Lachie Whitfield ($13,800)

Lachie Whitfield has had a promising season since returning from his AFL imposed ban. Whitfield has averaged 103 Draftstars points per game, amassing five tons in his nine games in 2017. Whitfield is all class, and has recorded over 15 kicks in three of his past four matches. The Tigers lack a bit of outside run, so I expect Whitters to run over the top of the Tiges on the wide expanses of the MCG

Dom Sheed ($11,100)

Dominic Sheed is fast becoming my right hand man in Draftstars, because he always stays around the $11-13k mark and has the ability to hit tons. I chucked Sheed in my line-up last week and he didn’t disappoint, racking up 27 disposals on his way to 91 points in the Western Derby. A poor score a fortnight ago (48) leaves his price languishing at $11.1k, which is value considering he is more than capable of tonning up.

Liam Duggan ($11,000)

Liam Duggan played the best game of his short career last week against the Dockers. The youngster claimed 31 disposals along with 11 marks to amass a monumental 124 Draftstars points. This was his first ton for the season, and followed a promising 86 point effort the week before. His last fortnight will have him full of confidence, and I reckon he will score well again this weekend.

Will Setterfield ($8,000)

Will Setterfield comes in for his long awaited first game for the season after tearing it up in the NEAFL season-long. While my Nanna could probably tear the NEAFL to shreds, I reckon this guy has what it takes to have an immediate impact at AFL level. Setterfield was selected at pick number five in last year’s draft, and is the ‘modern prototype midfielder’ at 190cm and 82kg. A nice cheapie for your Sunday.

Defence

Alex Witherden ($11,700)

Well if you searched “immediate impact at AFL level”, Alex Witherden’s name would come up. The kid has looked good from the outset, possessing a ripping right peg and class in spades. He has averaged 25 disposals over his first four games along with 86.5 Draftstars points. Witherden has even been entrusted with the kick-out duties, and in true Heath Shaw fashion, he doesn’t mind kicking it to himself to get that extra ‘+3’. Averaging 90 in his last three.

Alex Rance ($9,400)

We have a strong ‘Alex’ theme for our defence in this one, but this Alex has been an average Draftstars performer of late. Rance has posted meagre totals of 37 and 38 over the past two weeks, clunking just the three marks in each of these appearances. He is at a low, low price though, and is certainly capable of getting us a good total for his price tag.

Ruck

Shane Mumford ($12,250)

Shane Mumford hit back into form last weekend, churning out 112 Draftstars points against the Swan. Mummy laid nine tackles and even booted two goals – double his goal kicking tally for the season. His hitouts have been consistent all year, averaging 39 per game, and I expect him to dominate Soldo and Nankervis. He might even eat the young bloke. Expect a big one.
