AFL $20,000+ Bulldogs v Giants Line-Up

The last time these two sides played it was a nail-biting affair with the Giants taking it out by two points thanks to the Bulldogs kicking an embarrassing 9.19. I am predicting GWS to continue as they did last week and get the chocolates, although the Bulldogs are certainly in with a sniff.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $20,000+ Bulldogs v Giants competition

Forward

Toby McLean ($11,800)

I bet you were probably expecting to see another Toby in this spot, but not to be (or not To-by, am I right?). No, instead I have chosen Toby McLean, who raised the bat for 102 Draftstars points last weekend against the Lions. A recent move into the midfield has seen McLean prosper, eclipsing 90 points in four of his past five matches. Yet, he can be purchased for just $11.8k due to his 66-point effort two weeks ago.

Jonathon Patton ($9,350)

Jonathon Patton slots back in to the Giants side after a week out with injury. The General has a solid outing last time around, clunking nine marks and booting three goals – including that crucial goal from 50 on the boundary. The Bulldogs defensive stocks are weakened with the loss of Easton Wood, meaning that one of Lewis Young and Zaine Cordy will be responsible for him. Could be a bag on the way for Jono.

Midfield

Josh Kelly ($14,200)

Josh Kelly was at his silky best last weekend against the Demons. The ’10 million dollar man’ was the clear best on ground in his 27 disposal, 131 point display last weekend. Kelly also booted three goals in his outing, which broke a two game sub-100 streak (albeit, scores of 98 and 91 aren’t half bad). The 22-year-old is all class and light it up on the big stage.

Stephen Coniglio ($13,800)

Stephen Coniglio returned to the Giants side a fortnight ago and has pumped out two Draftstars tons. The ball-winning midfielder has reached scores of 104 and 101, averaging 27 disposals and six tackles. He also slotted an absolute ripper from the boundary which will definitely be a contender for goal of the year. Coniglio is fit and firing and should hit another triple figure score against the Doggies.

Jacob Hopper ($9,850)

Jacob Hopper comes in at a pretty cheap price for this contest. I chucked the youngster into my side last week and he was fairly average, with his nine tackles getting him to a modest total of 75 Draftstars points. I am a bit unsure of the mid-range options in this contest, and Hopper has reached 85 points earlier in the season. If he keeps his tackling intent up against the Bulldogs, he should be able to deliver.

Matt De Boer ($8,550)

Matty de Boer remains at a very affordable price due to his injury affected score of 6 Draftstars points a few weeks ago. His returns of 70 and 58 haven’t been the best since coming back into the side, but like Hopper the man loves to tackle. De Boer has scored four 70+ totals so far this season, and managed 58 despite only recording one kick last week. Could do worse.

Defence

Zac Williams ($12,050)

Zac Williams is a fairly erratic Draftstars scorer, and you just don’t know what he is going to produce on a week-to-week basis. His recent form has been very patchy, with just one 80+ score in his past six matches. This score was a Draftstars ton a few weeks ago, and a couple of totals in the 70’s has seen his price fall somewhat. Williams managed a formidable 107 Draftstars points the last time the two sides met earlier in the season, and I’m backing him to lift for this important clash.

Nathan Wilson ($9,850)

Nathan Wilson is another Giants defender who is capable of reaching highs but also is prone to the odd stinker. Wilson has averaged 71 Draftstars points to date this season, with the bulk of his points coming from his 14 kicks per game. If the Giants get their running game going, Williams and Wilson should both be able to link up and rack up kicks running off their opponents.

Ruck

Jordan Roughead ($10,400)

Usually I pick my ruckman first, but with Dawson Simpson not entering the GWS line-up for the suspended Shane Mumford, I have been thrown a bit off guard. Considering Rory Lobb isn’t exactly a recognised ruckman, Jordan Roughead looks to be the pick of the lot. Should spend more time in the middle than Lobb, who I reckon will rotate more often with General Patton. Posted 109 Draftstars points against Tom Bellchambers a fortnight ago.
