AFL $25,000+ Sunday Line-Up

It’s the second last Sunday of the home-and-away season and there isn’t exactly three belter games on show. No better excuse than to enter this contest to get some ‘vested’ interest in these likely drab affairs.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Jesse Hogan ($11,350)

Jesse Hogan returns to the Dees line-up after a couple of weeks on the sidelines with a shoulder injury. His last game at the MCG yielded a fruitful 96 Draftstars points, booting three goals from 23 disposals against the Power. Is priced at a very affordable $11.35k after Comes up against Brisbane on Sunday afternoon and should kick a bag with the ball being banged in the Dees forward line more often than not.

Jack Riewoldt ($10,200)

Jack Riewoldt came back from an eye injury last week and despite having what most would describe as a poor game, he still managed to score 71 Draftstars points. This along with his dismal 39-point outing against the Giants (the game he played before the eye injury) have caused his price to dip significantly. Jack at $10.2k is fantastic value, and with the Tigers expected to defeat the Dockers, I’d expect him to score well.

Midfield

Dion Prestia ($13,800)

Dion Prestia has started to show some form that suggests he is worth pick six in last year’s draft. The former Sun has been spending more time in the guts in some semi-tagging roles, posting totals of 125 and 117 in the past fortnight. He has averaged 30 disposals and eight tackles in these two matches, and I reckon Hardwick will send Prestia to Fyfe on Sunday evening.

Sebastian Ross ($13,300)

Admittedly, I have a bit of a soft spot for Sebastian Ross, and he is somewhat cheaper after two sub-ton scores in the past fortnight. Ross plays the Roos on Sunday who he should be free to gather possessions against. North Melbourne tagged Tom Mitchell last week, but I doubt they will see Ross as having the same impact. Despite being tagged he still scored 118, mostly due to North’s average midfield group.

Ryan Clarke ($9,850)

Not really sure how Ryan Clarke is at a price like this with a three round average of 89 Draftstars points. Clarke has always been a ball-winner and now he is starting to show it consistently at AFL level, averaging 27 touches and seven marks over these three weeks. Looks to be playing a lot more in the guts than ever before, and should produce another good score for his discount price.

Jack Graham ($7,000)

If it hadn’t been for injuries, Jack Graham would have been in the Tiger line-up from Round 1. Graham was crowned the best player of the National Championships last week, but somehow slipped to pick 55 in the draft. The youngster is a bull at a gate and his body is ready-made for AFL. I’m expecting a promising debut from the young Tiger.

Defence

Shane Savage ($11,650)

Shane Savage is one of form Draftstars defenders at the minute, yet is still at quite a nice price. Savage has gone at 82 Draftstars points in his 10 games this season, but his last six games are what has stood out, posting five 90+ totals including three tons. He plays his best footy at Etihad Stadium and I don’t think North will bother manning him up.

Dylan Roberton ($11,650)

After a ripping start to the season Dylan Roberton has kind of trailed off, but looks to have found some form in the past couple of weeks. Roberton collected 27 touches (including 19 kicks) last week against the Dees on his way to 91 Draftstars points, following his solid total of 82 the week before. Like Savage, Roberton thrives under the roof of Etihad and considering the Saints tendency to overpossess the footy in defence, he is a good shout.

Ruck

Toby Nankervis ($10,800)

Nank the Tank is FINALLY free to ruck on his lonesome. The great Ivan Soldo has been dropped for this match-up, with Toby Nankervis set to ruck against young Sean Darcy. The big galoot will certainly have Nank covered in the hit-out department, but around the ground Toby should thrive. Nankervis presents a bit of value after an average back-half of the season, but he should be able to deliver this time around.
