AFL $20,000+ Hawks v Bulldogs Line-Up
If the Bulldogs had beat the Power last weekend, this would have been a much more enticing contest. Unfortunately they didn’t, so the Bulldogs are almost certainly going to be the second team in 20 years to win the flag then not make finals. Funnily enough, Hawthorn was the other one of those teams. Pure milk energies, here.
Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $20,000+ Hawks v Bulldogs competition
Forward
Toby McLean ($11,800)
Toby McLean has been a favourite of mine during the back-end of the year, and for good reason. His move to the midfield has yielded him four tons from his last nine games, averaging an impressive 94 Draftstars points per game across this period. Expecting Tobes to finish the season strongly with a nice tasty ton in this one.
Blake Hardwick ($8,450)
The Hawks have found a player this year in Blake Hardwick, who will play his 19th game for the season on Friday night. Hardwick’s poise and disposal by foot has stood out in 2017, averaging a handy 61 Draftstars points along the way. Signed a two-year contract extension a couple of weeks ago and more importantly, scored 83 points last week against the Blues. His confidence will be sky high (especially after the latter) and Burton’s injury means Hardwick should get a bit more of the footy than usual.
Midfield
Luke Hodge ($13,650)
I must confess, I am picking with my heart more than my head here. Hodgey is deserving of a Draftstars send-off (as are you Matty Boyd, just couldn’t fit you in mate), but some of his scores lately justify his selection. Especially if you choose to ignore his putrid 46 last week… The fortnight before that saw Hodge score 120 and 100, and with Ryan Burton out with injury and Hawthorn’s tendency to over possess in the back-half, Hodge should get a heap of it. How could you not kick it to him in his last game?
Marcus Bontempelli ($12,850)
Clearly I am a forgiving man selecting Hodge after his 46 last week, and this man is in the same boat. Bont copped a hard Brad Ebert tag against the Power and could only manage 12 disposals and 56 Draftstars points. However, I just can’t resist The Bont under $13k, considering there is always the potential for him to rip a game to shreds. Given the nature of this daily fantasy format, I’d say he is a good get.
Jaeger O’Meara ($10,700)
Jaeger O’Meara was suggested in last week’s Saturday write-up, and he proceeded to go and stink it up. Continuing the theme of forgiveness, I am giving JOM another chance considering it was just his first game last week. The Jaeger bomb will be keen to finish the season with a BANG (I think this pun was used last week as well, nonetheless…) after injury crippled him once again in 2017.
Tom Liberatore ($10,400)
We all loved it at the time, but its fair to say Libba probably partied a bit hard over the pre-season. He has been nowhere near the fantasy operator we are used to in 2017, averaging a meagre 72 Draftstars points and just 17 disposals per game. In saying all this, he responded to his rank 38 a fortnight ago with a solid total of 81, so here’s hoping he can replicate it.
Defence
Matthew Suckling ($11,200)
Matty Suckling meets his old side for the first time since the Doggies knocked them off in the Semi-Final last year. Suckling has had a fairly average run of it of late, averaging just the 71 Draftstars points over the past month. You’d think he’d be raring to go in this must-win game against his former teammates, though. After last week’s effort, JJ should cop some more attention as well, which should grant Suckling a bit more freedom.
Bailey Williams ($9,200)
Bailey Williams has pieced together a rather solid Draftstars season, averaging a modest 62.5 Draftstars points in his 11 games. The young defender has scored 60+ in his past six matches, which is consistency you don’t usually see around the $9k mark. Admittedly, he has only topped 70 twice out of these six, but I’d take a sure 60-75 over a shaky key defender any day of the week.
Ruck
Ben McEvoy ($11,650)
A choice of three in this one: McEvoy, Campbell and Roughead. The astute Draftstars players would select the ruckman who will be rucking on his lonesome, and that finds Ben McEvoy occupying this slot. His average of 90 Draftstars points for the season is also pretty handy, coupled with his price of $11.65k. Should smash Tom Campbell around the ground on Friday night.
