NRL $5,000+ Storm v Broncos Line-Up

It’s a repeat of the 2006 Grand Final as the Storm take on the Broncos. It will be club legend Cooper Cronk’s last game in front of his home fans, which adds further fuel to what is a brilliant match-up. The Storm have dominated the Broncos in recent years and have looked unbeatable at times this season, but a tight game against the Eels in the qualifying final will give Brisbane plenty of hope going into Friday night. Skipper Darius Boyd is back for the Broncos, and he will be looking to lead his side through to a Grand Final. It should be a cracking contest.

Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $5,000+ Storm v Broncos competition

Front Row Forward

Joe Ofahengaue ($8,900)

Ofahengaue was enormous against the Panthers last week, giving the Broncos 51 minutes from the bench. He ended the game with 35 tackles, 124 metres, one offload, two tackle breaks and 47.4 Draftstars points. He’s been a dominant force through the middle for Brisbane, and he will be required to put in another big game against one of the best packs in the competition. Given he had the highest score of any front rower despite being just the eighth most expensive, Ofahengaue should be a lock for your team.

Nelson Asofa-Solomona ($8,000)

Asofa-Solomona is one of the most damaging ball runners in the competition; just three weeks ago he ran a massive 173 metres from just 15 runs. In two games against the Broncos this season, Asofa-Solomona has averaged 42.45 Draftstars points, 99.5 metres, four tackle breaks and 23.5 tackles. This track record sets him apart in a great bunch of cheap options, with the likes of Jordan McLean, Kenny Bromwich and Herman Ese’ese all great options as well.

Hooker

Cameron Smith ($16,650)

Smith has been the best fantasy player in the competition for the best part of a decade. He’s also been a fantastic big game and finals player for his entire career. That’s a perfect recipe for him to have a massive game against the Broncos. Last time these teams played, Smith ended up with a try, a line break, 111 metres and 29 tackles. With the inexperienced Ben Hunt lining up against him, Smith is ever chance to dominate around the ruck and end up with a massive score.

Second Row Forward

Tohu Harris ($13,350)

Harris has been in brilliant form since returning from injury, scoring three tries, making three line breaks and thirteen tackle breaks in just three games. Defensively he’s been sound, too, making 99/102 tackles in this time. It’s in attack where he’s most dangerous though, with his impeccable line running and handy ball skills allowing him to open games up and create plenty of opportunities for the Storm backline. The Broncos’ are strong on the edges, so Harris will be put to work defensively which should lead to a large tackle count, and plenty of Draftstars points.

Felise Kaufusi ($9,750)

Kaufusi is great value at under $10k, given he has scored over 40 Draftstars points in 18 of his 25 games this season. His consistency comes from always playing 80 minutes, and giving his all in attack and defence. He rarely makes less than 30 tackles in a game, which automatically gives him a solid scoring platform. His running game is solid as well, and it has seen him score five tries and make twelve line breaks this year.

Centre

Alex Glenn ($10,700)

The options at centre are all fairly even: James Roberts has the highest upside; Curtis Scott has the recent form against the Broncos; Will Chambers has the pedigree and Tautau Moga has the price tag. Alex Glenn, however, has been too good to refuse in recent weeks. In the last five weeks, he’s averaged 56.6 Draftstars points due to some massive performances that have seen him rack up stats across the board. Last week he scored 62.8, after making 30 tackles, a line break, six tackle breaks and running 168 metres. As a back rower who is available in the centres, his tackling ensures that his bad games don’t hurt you as much as the other guys.

Half

Cameron Munster ($12,600)

Munster has adjusted to the five-eighth position like a duck to water this season, even donning the number six for the victorious Queensland side in State of Origin. In attack, he’s a special talent. His ball running is obviously strong, but his passing game is of equal quality. He’s set up eleven tries in fifteen games since moving to the halves and has made nineteen line break assists in that period. He has the highest upside of the guys available, so unless you need to save funds with a guy like Nikorima, Munster is a safe choice.

Wing/Fullback

James Roberts ($11,400)

Picking outside backs in this contest is tough as it will likely be a low scoring game. The Broncos gave up just over 18 points a game in the regular season, while the Storm were phenomenal, giving up just 14 per game. In a low scoring game, a man that can create something from nothing is a great option, and James Roberts fits that criteria. He’s scored a try in each of the last three weeks and is averaging over 50 Draftstars points in that time.

Darius Boyd ($7,250)

Even though he’s playing in his first game for three weeks, Boyd is too cheap to ignore. The incumbent Kangaroos fullback will be facing off against the current Queensland custodian, and Boyd will be wanting to assert his dominance. If the Broncos are going to be competitive, Boyd’s creativity will be at the forefront of their attack. Picking a winger in this contest is risky, so for value for money and safety, Boyd is a good choice.
