Durant

Kevin Durant is one of the most damaging and efficient players in the league. His high octane game is perfectly suited by the Warriors and he often gets a lot of open looks thanks to the other weapons the Warriors possess in Steph Curry, Klay Thomson and Draymond Green. But due to all of those stars he shares the court with, he sometimes can go quiet and take a backseat if one of the others is running hot. If Klay or Steph get on a roll, Durant tends to get less looks in offense and it is not Durant’s role to grab rebounds, which may impact his scoring. Which one of the Warriors will fire today?

Griffin

Blake Griffin is one of the most unheralded stars in the league. He goes about his work, producing night after night and doesn’t get a lot of praise compared to similar players in the league. Griffin does not have the offensive capabilities to keep up with Durant’s scoring if Durant is running hot, but Griffin typically grabs more rebounds and assists which supplements his Draftstars scoring.

The Verdict

This matchup will be a lot closer than everyone thinks. Durant is the clear favourite to take this out, although an upset would not shock. Griffin is a DS points grinder, he accumulates his way to big scores through rebounding and scoring. However, if you’re playing the percentages to win the free ticket, the safest way to play is to choose Durant.
