NBA $40,000+ Thursday Lineup Tips
Another week has passed in the NBA and we are starting to get a clearer picture about who are the teams to beat this season. Of course, as everyone predicted at the start of the season, I am talking about the Pistons, Magic and Grizzlies. The season has taken a somewhat unexpected start with the Warriors and Cavaliers both dropping unexpected early games, perhaps the earlier start to the season has caused the slow start? There is a huge 12 matches to get stuck into, and $40,000 to be won. Tip-off is at 10.10am AEDT, so make sure you get your lineup in by then.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $40k+ Thursday competition
Point Guard
Jamal Murray ($8,850)
Murray and his Nuggets are perhaps the streakiest team in the league so far this season. They are capable of scoring over 100 points in three quarters like they did against the Nets and follow it up with 40 points in a half like they did against the Hornets. The Nuggets should be able to bounce back from their shock loss against the Knicks when they take on the Raptors. Murray gets a good match up against Kyle Lowry who has struggled a bit defensively. Murray is a good value play as he can really score a lot when hot, but he is prone to quiet days.
Jarrett Jack ($5,000)
The Knicks have looked like a different team ever since Jack was selected in the starting lineup over Ramon Sessions. Jack is well suited to the high tempo offense which the Knicks are trying to run. At the bargain basement price of $5,000, Jack is a must pick as he will play 30+ minutes and should easily score above 20 DS points. There is no doubt that his salary will increase soon, so make the most out of him while you still can.
Shooting Guard
Victor Oladipo ($14,300)
Oladipo has been one of the revelations of the season so far. After getting traded to the Pacers as part of the Paul George deal, Oladipo has shone for the Pacers so far this season. The Pacers were a team who many people thought would be fighting it out for a lottery pick at the end of the season, but have started very well to be 4-3 after seven games. Oladipo and his Pacers take on the struggling Cavaliers who have the worst defense in the league. Look for Oladipo to scorch the Cavs and score yet another big score.
Eric Gordon ($11,700)
The reigning sixth man of the year has made the move into the Rockets starting lineup due to Chris Paul’s injury. Gordon get a lot of good looks due to his partner in the back court, James Harden, often getting double teamed. Gordon is currently on pace for the most three point attempts in a season, averaging over 11 attempts per match. If he can improve his accuracy, watch out. Gordon is a great option for this contest due to his ‘scoring ceiling’, he has the potential to score very high due to all the shot attempts he makes.
Small Forward
Evan Fournier ($12,600)
Fournier has been remarkably consistent so far this season and is a huge reason why the Magic have started so well. The Magic are taking on fellow high flyer Memphis, in what is the match of the day. Fournier has only failed to score 20 points on one occasion this season and has increased his average DS points by 10 compared to last season. There is no reason why he can’t continue his good form and is a good selection for tomorrow’s contest.
Kelly Oubre Jr. ($8,350)
With Markieff Morris out suspended for this match, Oubre Jr. should take his place in the starting lineup. Oubre Jr. has been playing well so far this season and can continue his good form against the Suns. The Suns are not a good defensive team, which should mean that Oubre Jr. should get plenty of open looks. Oubre Jr. is a good value play in today’s contest.
Power Forward
Al Horford ($13,400)
Big Al is a big reason the Celtics have been able to start so well this season. As the only starter from last season to be starting for the Celtics this season, Horford has been instrumental to their early success. He’s been dominant in defense, shutting down every opponent he plays against (he’s the only person to keep Porzingis under 30 points this season) and he is dominating rebounds, lifting his average from 6.8 per game last season to 9.4 this season. Horford can continue this good form against the Kings who are struggling big time.
Domantas Sabonis ($9,250)
Even though he came into his last match under an illness clud, Sabonis dominated the Kings, finishing with 12 points and 16 rebounds on his way to 39 DS points. Sabonis has had a few really strong performances so far this season, but he mixes it up with a few quiet ones. Against the Cavs, Sabonis should be able to continue his hot form.
Centre
Kristaps Porzingis ($15,650)
The unicorn is balling. Porzingis has started the season in incredible form, scoring 30 points in every game bar one. The Knicks are now Porzingis’ team and they have improved significantly this season. They have a tricky match up against the Rockets, but Porzingis should be able to dominate his matchup against Clint Capela. Look for him to put up another 30 points on his way to another big DS score.
