AUSTRALIA v INDIA 2ND: TIPS & SELECTIONS
Australia got the upper hand in the three match series when winning the opening T20 international at the Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday.
There were big performances from Chris Lynn, Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa in the four-run win, but it was all-rounder Marcus Stoinis who was the man to have on your side.
India relied heavily on Shikhar Dhawan with the bat and left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav with the ball.

MARCUS STOINIS ($19,600)
It was a tough call over whether to include Glenn Maxwell or Marcus Stoinis. We had both in our selections in the 1st T20 and weren’t let down by either, but – given India look the goods to win the match – salary restrictions realistically only allows for one of the Aussie pair. With 33 from 19 balls in the win in Brisbane and 2/27 when bowling, Stoinis’ ability to perform with both bat and ball gives him the edge, although we’re having to make sacrifices elsewhere to accommodate the most expensive player.
SHIKHAR DHAWAN ($16,000)
India will need their big names to improve with the bat in Melbourne, but not this fella. The opening batsman held the innings together with 76 from 42 balls to give the run-chase the perfect foundations. But his team-mates couldn’t get the job done. Dhawan is a different player when in form, because he keeps piling runs. Expect a lot of responsibility to fall on his shoulders once again.
KULDEEV YADAV ($17,200)
We bigged this guy up before the opening game and he didn’t disappoint. The only downside now is that we’re paying even more to get him into the side. But the left-arm chinaman bowler is a must. He is a joy to watch and was amongst the wickets at the Gabba with with 2/24. He should be picking up more wickets at the MCG too and is worth the outlay.
ANDREW TYE ($11,800)
Andrew Tye had a night to forget in the 1st T20I, but he is far too skilled to have two bad matches in succession. The good news too is that his salary has dropped for this game. Tye is Australia’s number one T20 specialist with the ball. Expect him to be back among the wickets with his variation of balls.
