AUSTRALIA v INDIA 1ST TEST: TIPS & SELECTIONS
What a series we have in store and the opening game promises to be a ripper when Australia and India clash in the 1st Test at the Adelaide Oval from Thursday.
Australia have had the upper hand over India in recent times Down Under with no defeat in the last nine meetings, but will that continue in this series?
Virat Kohli’s side will look to make an early impression in Adelaide, but it is a city where the hosts have won their last five tests.
It is all to play for across the four-match series and there is $5,000 in the jackpot tournament for the 1st Test as well as Free to Play and fun tournaments.
We pick out some of the players you should have in your selections for the 1st Test and our seven-man line-up.
VIRAT KOHLI ($22,600)
Virat Kohli has an excellent record at the Adelaide Oval, where he has score three centuries in four innings at the venue. That alone means he is very much worth the high tariff to have him in your team. Add to that his 1063 runs in 10 Tests this year and he simply is a must. There is pressure on the India captain with question marks over the form of some of his batsman, but he should come good.
USMAN KHAWAJA ($14,100)
Usman Khawaja showed his ability in the testing conditions of the UAE in the 1-0 defeat to Pakistan, opening the batting in that series. He could be replaced as Aaron Finch’s opening partner and be named at number three for the opening against India, but has the temperament to cope with either scenario. Khawaja should be the bedrock of the Australian innings.
RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN ($15,400)
With a batting line-up overloaded with left-handers, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin could have a major role to play in the outcome of the 1st Test…particularly in the second innings in those rough patches. The all-rounder should also collect some points for you with the bat.
JOSH HAZELWOOD ($11,500)
Australia’s trio of quicks will be key at the Adelaide Oval and in truth you could have any of them in your side. Mitchell Starc is the obvious pick of them, but Josh Hazlewood continues to slip under the radar in this Australia attack and he should be picking up wickets.
