AFLW R6 – $1,500 SUNDAY CONTEST
Despite the fact that Adelaide are in a smash-spot, we’re fading superstar Erin Phillips! The Kangas-stack let us down yesterday but a stars and scrubs approach this afternoon will see us back up the leaderboard.
Selection
Brianne Davey ($13,360): Davey has returned to foerm the last three weeks with two 70+ games including last-start against Collingwood. Carlton have realized they need her on ball and across half back which is where she does her best fantasy scoring. With Brisbane very one dimensional going forward, expect Davey to be racking up possessions across half back this afternoon. Happy to pay the price for a player who is capable of a big 80+.
Renee Forth ($7,030): Forth is starting to play the kind of footy that saw her taken by GWS as a marquee selection in 2017. It’s been a long road back to form for Forth but she looks completely over her ACL issues now. Two 50+ efforts in Adelaide’s dominant wins (which is what I expect to happen this afternoon) offer a good baseline. Baking 40-50pts at 7k is a win.
Anne Hatchard ($14,920): Absolute star of the comp. Plays onball and when she is not doing that she is rucking so there is little time she is not right in the thick of it. Expect another 80+ effort out of her at a sensational price given her consistency. Should be the chalky play of the slate but I can’t avoid her.
Ebony Marinoff ($19,240): Bank a fantasy ton here. Marinoff is actually a little underpriced for what she is capable of producing. Most people will take Erin Phillips but there is always a risk with her that she doesn’t get the goals whereas Marinoff is a bankable 25 disposals, 10 tackles every week.
Alexandra Anderson ($19,190): Taking the second rolls Royce for a drive and pairing them in this team is a big POD play. Few teams will spend almost 40k of their cap on 2 players. Anderson’s output has dropped last two games but she simply must play well here for Brisbane to be a chance. 90+ effort is well within reach here and getting 200+ out of Marinoff and Anderson is a real possibility.
Nikki Gore ($5,000): Crows took Gore at #8 and have yet to unveil their highly-touted midfielder. Is a tackling machine and can also rack them up, the big question is game time. I suspect that Phillips will play a lot more forward today so Gore could see decent minutes but I’m selecting her for salary relief and hoping for a 30-35pt game. If she gets the run she is capable of more but she seems a safe play given her tackle floor.
Lauren Brazzale ($7,740): Returns to the Blues lineup after being dropped so expect a solid effort here. Capable of a 50+ game, but the delivery to her needs to be accurate as she gets a lot of her points from mark-kick stats across half back/wing. If those kicks go over her head or short then Brazzale can struggle to pay off her salary. Not many others in her price range with her ceiling though.
Lisa Whiteley ($5,000): Min priced defenders usually don’t return good fantasy points but with how much ball Whiteley is likely to see down back for GWS I’m happy to take the risk. Is a noted interceptor and does like to tackle which are two big ticks for me when selecting defenders. Anything over 25pts I am very happy with.
Jessy Keefe ($8,080): I wasn’t a big fan of her debut but the 27 hitout, 5 tackle second-up effort caught my eye. This game against Carlton will be a very contested onewhich gives Keefe plenty of chances to lay tackles and rack up hitouts. Anywhere near that 50pt range is a big win.
