BBL $15k+ Renegades v Thunder LINE-UP
The instant hit that is the Big Bash has started off well, and we’re already up to the third match of the tournament. The Renegades’ first match is against the Thunder, and DraftStars has a $15k Renegades v Thunder Clear the Fence contest to take part in. As part of Clear the Fence, all eligible players who enter this game will get 50 cents for every 6 hit in the match, regardless of who you pick in your lineup. Between the Thunder and the Sixers, 11 6s were hit, equating to a total payout of $3,000 to Draftstars players.
Here is a team you may consider for the BBL $15k Thunder v Sixers Clear the Fence match competition
WICKETKEEPER
Peter Nevill ($8,000)
Having dropped out of the international set-up, Nevill takes the reins as the Renegades’ number one wicket-keeper. He is guaranteed his spot in the team, which is about the only reason we are selecting him here. None of the wicket-keepers in either squad are particularly exciting T20 players, and the hope will be that Nevill picks up a couple of stumpings off the tricky spin duo of Hogg and Narine.
BATSMEN
Cameron White ($12,200)
White has enjoyed a career resurgence in the 2016/17 domestic season, and is someone that must be included in daily fantasy squads. He is hitting the ball as cleanly as ever, and has only been dismissed once in the Sheffield Shield so far this summer. Crucially, his form in the Matador Cup was excellent as well, and his ability to clear the fence appears to have returned, which only helps with DraftStars’ current promotion. Lock in and enjoy.
Marcus Harris ($9,500)
The 24-year-old has been successful in his move to Victoria so far this season, and is under-priced for what he is more than capable of producing. Harris will likely open the batting with his captain, Aaron Finch, and his ability to get going quickly makes him a dangerous prospect. He averaged nearly 40 in the Matador Cup and is averaging 60 in the Sheffield Shield, scoring relatively quickly in both competitions. Harris showed some aggression in his limited opportunities at the Scorchers, and the short boundaries of Etihad will likely take a peppering from him.
BOWLERS
Brad Hogg ($10,050)
Evergreen Hogg, a fresh 45-year-old has made the move from Perth to join the Renegades. He is still at the top of his game, snaring 10 wickets in BBL05 with an ecomomy rate of 7. Renowned for his viciously spinning left arm chinaman deliveries and the occasional wrong’un, Hogg finds himself in more spin friendly conditions than he did last season. The Etihad pitch is usually quite dry, which will only aid him further.
Pat Cummins ($10,500)
Cummins is the only Thunder player selected in this team, which gives an indication as to how we think the match will play out. Again, he’s too cheap to ignore, especially when there are star Renegades players that need to be included. He was sluggish with the ball against the Sixers, conceding 38 off three overs without taking a wicket. Expect him to bounce back in a big way. And while we’re well aware of his capabilities with the ball, he hit a crisp 30 off 20 balls – including three sixes – which netted a cool 62 DS fantasy points.
ALL-ROUNDER
Dwayne Bravo ($21,900)
It’s amazing to think Bravo is so much cheaper than Russell in this contest, given how they’ll have a similar role for their respective teams. Bravo is a T20 legend, having played nearly 350 matches and dominated with bat and ball. He was solid without being spectacular in BBL|15, which is strange given he averaged 50 with the bat at a striker rate of 164! He’ll bat anywhere from 3-6 and should bowl 3-4 overs worth of his bag of tricks – which is enough to make him the star selection.
FLEX
Sunil Narine ($17,100)
The best T20 bowler in the world needs to be included, as he will singlehandedly change the Renegades’ fortunes at Etihad Stadium. While the pitch isn’t known to be particularly helpful for spinners, Narine bowls well everywhere. He has 241 wickets in 196 appearances, which is incredible in itself for a spin bowler, while his career economy rate is just 5.68. Narine will bamboozle the Thunder batsmen and make this match a one-sided affair. He’s the most likely bowler playing in this match.
