Here is a team you may consider for the BBL $15k+ Sixers v Scorchers competition:

Wicketkeeper

Sam Whiteman ($8,000)

Whiteman is the type of wicketkeeper that ticks all the boxes when you are selecting your team. He opens the batting, which gives him every opportunity to score big points and he costs half the salary of his opposite number. A player like Whiteman allows you to spend big on other players.

Batsmen

Ian Bell ($15,000)

Ian Bell showed his class with an exceptionally stylish 61 off 42 against the Strikers. Bell’s innings included 6 fours and 2 sixes. Bell is a veteran of 118 test matches for England, scoring 7727 runs at an average of 43. Although T20 is a different format of the game, if Bell can continue his form from the first match, there is no reason why he cannot carry the Scorchers to the finals.

Michael Klinger ($13,450)

It was undoubtedly a disappointing start for Klinger, getting caught on the boundary whilst on 1. He deserves another chance. He will open the batting for the Scorchers and is the all-time leading Big Bash run scorer, so he has the class to bounce back and get into the runs in this match.

Bowlers

Joe Mennie ($10,500)

Mennie was very good in the first game, but very disappointing in his second game. After taking two wickets against the Thunder, he got smashed for 20 runs in his only over against the Hurricanes. He can bounce back here. Mennie is a strong, quick bowler who bowls a good length, but he can be a little bit predictable. He is relatively cheap at $10,500, so you can take a punt and hope that the good Mennie shows up.

Andrew Tye ($16,250)

After an interrupted lead up due to injury, Tye started his campaign with an okay performance against the Strikers. He was not expensive, only conceding 6.25 runs per over, but he also did not take any wickets, resulting in 19 DS points. Tye is an elite death bowler, who possesses a wide variety of slower balls, including a vicious knuckle ball. This looks like a good matchup for Tye as the Sixers have a fragile middle and lower order.

Allrounder

Stephen O’Keefe ($15,100)

The super consistent O’Keefe comes into this match having scored 61 and 58 DS points in his previous two matches. There is no reason why he cannot contribute this again. He is a crafty left arm orthodox bowler, who usually bowls his full allotment of overs and he can provide some solid lower order hitting if required.

Flex

Jason Roy ($17,100)

Roy has started BBL06 in superb form, netting 87 and 52 DS points in his previous two matches. The English import, has been vital for the Sixers at the top of the order, will look to continue his hot hand here. Roy has also been electric in the field, taking three catches, including a freakish catch against the Thunder.
