AFL $25,000+ Sunday Line-Up
I look upon the mountain top as I write this preview: what is that i spy? Why, it is two monolithic ruckman who look to set to tear the place apart this Sunday! Gone with a bit of an unconventional setup in this one. It’s pretty foreign not seeing a midfielder over $12k, but there are greater priorities in this contest.
Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $25,000+ Sunday competition
Forward
Paddy Ryder ($13,550)
What a way to start the line-up! I don’t know about you, but the prospect of Paddy Ryder up against Mason Cox in the ruck has me frothing at the mouth. The Power ruckman got a bit of a touch-up against Sauce Jacobs despite scoring 88 points, but should absolutely destroy the lanky American. Has averaged a mammoth 44 hit-outs in his past three games and the last time he faced a weak ruck line-up (West Coast), he finished with 135 points. Must-have for this contest.
Charlie Dixon ($10,200)
Charlie Dixon hasn’t been in the best Draftstars form of late, averaging just the 69 points in his past three games compared to his 79 for the season. Dixon comes up against a shaky Collingwood defence on Sunday arvo and should thrive at Adelaide Oval. Forecasting a classic Port Adelaide performance (a drubbing of a bottom 10 side at home) so Dixon is every chance to kick a bag.
Midfield
Koby Stevens ($11,800)
Koby Stevens made his way back into the Saints side last week and put in an impressive effort against his old side. Stevens racked up 27 touches and laid six tackles on his way to 107 Draftstars points, the second ton in his past four matches. Two scores in the 50s also occupy that period, but I suspect Stevems will bide his time in the midfield again on Sunday afternoon.
Jared Polec ($11,350)
There is one thing that is noticeable about Jared Polec – he scores much better in wins than losses. In the Power’s past two wins he has posted totals of 108 and 91, compared to scores of 63 and 71 in losses to Melbourne and Adelaide. He loves an opportunity to chuck on his skiis and fly down the mountain, and as I previously mentioned, Port should respond to their Showdown loss and win comfortably.
Ryan Clarke ($9,100)
For this contest, we have the possibility of picking a player for just over $9k who scored over 100 last week. If that doesn’t scream value, I don’t know what does. Clarke had his best AFL game to date last week, racking up 31 disposals and 10 marks on his way to 101 Draftstars points. This backed up his 81 points he scored the week before. Think he will be a popular cheap selection in this one.
Karl Amon ($8,550)
See Jared Polec. Karl Amon’s scoring patterns are identical, except on a larger scale. Amon price tag was up at $10k last week, but his dismal 12 disposal performance netted him just 37 Draftstars points, in conditions that didn’t suit outside players one bit. Now at just $8.65k, he is a serious steal. Amon has posted four 80+ totals (all in wins) in his past 6 matches, with the other two falling below 50. I’d say the former is more likely than the latter on this occasion.
Defence
Ricky Henderson ($11,150)
Ricky Henderson has had a very promising Draftstars season since crossing over from Adelaide. Henderson has found himself across half-back and on the wing for the Hawks, averaging 86 Draftstars points per game. He scored 117 points points earlier in the season in Tazzy against the Lions, and we can get him fairly cheap after his scores of 64 and 70 in the past fortnight.
James Aish ($9,850)
James Aish returns to the side after a number of weeks out of the Collingwood line-up. Funnily enough, Aish played his last AFL game against the Power in Round 11, where he scored just 63 points. I think Aishy will be keen to show his worth, especially in his home state of Adelaide. Comes in at a cheap price for someone who scored a ton earlier in the year.
Ruck
Max Gawn ($14,250)
Maxxy Gawn was back to his brilliant best last weekend, amassing a monster 140 Draftstars points in a losss. Gawn won 52 hit-outs against big Mummy and collected 19 disposals in what was his most emphatic Draftstars showing for the season. He looks to be over the injury that plagued him in his return, and faces bean-pole Billy Longer on Sunday. Expecting another massive showing from the giant
