AFL $30,000+ Saturday Line-Up
At times in these daily contests there is not a lot of value to speak of, but this one has provided in spades. There are cheapies galore this Saturday, meaning that the old fantasy favourite of ‘guns and rookies’ is definitely able to be achieved. Let’s get stuck in to another Saturday of Draftstars action.
Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $30,000+ Saturday competition
Forward
Jarryd Lyons ($13,400)
It’s funny seeing Jarryd Lyons just casually go about his business without anyone talking about him. You may be shocked to hear that Lyons has averaged 115 Draftstars points in his past five games. Yep, you heard right. This has included two totals of 133, including his 39 disposal, six tackle effort last week. Without GAJ in, Lyons will be just about their best midfielder and I expect him to run amok.
Sam Naismith ($8,500)
Sam Naismith’s average has been impacted by the fact he has been sharing the ruck duties with Cal Sinclair. The big man sporting one of the rudest haircut in the business is going at 61 Draftstars points per game, but I see him with having a much greater output as the sole ruck. Up against Witts who is no slouch, but a small and scrappy SCG always guarantees there will be stoppages, and a ruckman at his price is to die for.
Midfield
Dayne Zorko ($15,150)
One bad game a fortnight ago leaves this guy at the price he sits at currently. Dayne Zorko responded in emphatic fashion to his paltry 45 Draftsars points against the Giants with a 124 point display in the Lions breakthrough win last week. Another classic Zorko performance: plenty of the footy (30 disposals), high tackle numbers (8) and two snags. Expect the same sort of stats from his at the ‘GABBA against the Cats.
Josh P. Kennedy ($14,950)
After a poor start to the year, Josh P. Kennedy has come home strong as he does every bloody year. JPK has scored seven straight tons, falling below 30 disposals just twice during this period. You know what you are going to get with this man, and he thrives at the SCG – especially against lesser sides. Kennedy is well and truly back to his reliable best and he should fare well again on Saturday.
Sebastian Ross ($13,500)
Sebastian Ross continues to go from strength to strength in 2017, averaging 103.5 Draftstars points. He is one of those blokes that can’t help but find the footy, and the fact that he has over 30 touches in 10 of his past 11 games showcases that. Has a handy record at Etihad Stadium this season too, and I reckon he will be at his best for their big clash with Richmond on Saturday night.
Tendai Mzungu ($6,400)
Tendai Mzungu returns for what will hopefully be his first full game for the Giants. Tendai has just the four disposals and two tackles before getting injured, scoring 18 Draftstars points. This is good news for us, though, considering Mzungu is now at a bargain basement $6.4k. At this price he is too good to ignore, considering he should get at least 60 on the weekend.
Defence
Jarrad McVeigh ($11,450)
Jarrad McVeigh returned for his first game in a month and a half and fared well, scoring 98 Draftstars points in the Swans win against Melbourne. His scores of 45 and 55 previously this year have made his price where it sits at the minute, and I really like the look of it. McVeigh at $11.45k is probably a grand or so underpriced, and we really should take advantage.
Taylor Hunt ($6,400)
Taylor Hunt is in a similar boat as Tendai Mzungu, except his shocking score was due to injury. Hunt had just 9 disposals (including eight handballs) in his first and last game of 2017 in Round 1 en route to a disgusting score of 16. I expect that Hunt will want to prove himself considering he has been in the magoos for the past 15 weeks. Kills me as a Tiger supporter to see him in my side, let alone my Draftstars lineup, but he screams value.
Ruck
Billy Longer ($10,250)
There are quite a few ruckmen we could select for this Saturday contest, but I think Billy Longer provides the best value for his price. Longer is practically a human hit-out machine -he has not recorded a quick in four games this season. Quite the opposite of his opponent Toby Nankervis, who thrives around the ground but struggles in the ruck. Averaging 38 hitouts per game, and I’d expect him to getting 45+ in this one.
