AFL $50,000 EASTER MONDAY HAWKS V CATS

Fifty thousand big ones up for grabs in what looks like an Easter Monday shootout at the G.

Everyone remembers close finishes between these two sides in recent years but what goes largely forgotten is how fast and loose they play in their Easter fixture.

In 2018 for example they managed just 131pts (71-60) in a gripping R21 clash, but for Easter Monday in R2 they piled on 235pts between them in a shootout for the ages. It’s a similar story going back further.

So we are building for goals goals goals and trying to get as many dominant ball winners into the team as possible because this game does not look like being a low-scoring slug-fest.

Here is my team you can consider using, or building around, for the Easter Monday Hawks v Cast contest.

FORWARD

Tom Hawkins ($11,700):First man picked for me today, in line to kick 6 and have 20+. Big game looms and as always, he will be low-owned.

Gary Rohan ($6,290):I’m not super pumped about having Rohan in my sides most weeks but in a shootout, at his price tag, it makes sense. 3 tackles, a goal or two and ten disposals and he pays it off with ease.

MIDFIELD

Brandan Parfitt ($11,090): Was down abit last week but so were a lot of Cats, Parfitt has three figure upside at a great price. Will be very popular today.

Tim Kelly ($13,490): I’m not sold on Kelly here but I couldn’t afford Danger and wanted exposure to the Cats onball brigade so hoping for a 30 disposal, 2 goal game from Kelly.

James Worpel ($11,360):Worpel has teased this season so far without putting a big game together. With JOM coming back in I expect many to pass Worpel but i think he has a really safe 80pt floor with 110 upside.

James Cousins ($10,080):The ankle injury from last week does worry me a little but the salary cap was biting. Has a pretty safe 8x floor here if he sees out the match.

DEFENDERS

Tom Stewart ($13,080):I love this guy but 13k does start to ask questions of where his ceiling is at and whether he can return value. It will be relative value, picking Stewart for a 100-110pt game is a selection that says the next best defender (sans Sicily) will not clear 80pts. Think that can happen.

Jack Scrimshaw ($9,370):I have watched this kid grow in confidence and responsibility at the Hawks and he has the attributes to be a really solid dfs scorer. Kick/handball/mark triple doubles are not far away and with an injury symbol attached to his name there could be a great ownership spot for him. Like him with no Mirra as well.

RUCK

Ben McEvoy ($13,390):No Ceglar in the side means big boy will need to play even more ruck time and will rest forward for stints as well. Must have a monster. Can beat Stanley by 40pts here
