AFL $50,000+ Sunday Line-Up

It hurts me to say that this is the last Draftstars Sunday of the home-and-away season. Don’t fret Draftstars fans, as this is a whopping $50,000 contest. It’d be rude not to get around it.

Here is a team you may consider for the AFL $50,000+ Sunday competition

Forward

Joe Daniher ($10,450)

Joey Daniher comes in at an absolute bargain price after a bit of a stinker last week against Gold Coast. The big man was kept to just 10 disposals and a goal by Steven May, scoring a paltry 46 Draftstars points. Despite Joel Hamling’s solid form this season, I can’t see him stopping dynamic Daniher in the forward 50. This is mostly due to the fact that the Dockers are just really, really bad. On for a bag.

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti ($9,500)

Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is capable of hitting both some good scores, but also has a tendency to throw in a shocker. AMT had a very impressive outing a few weeks ago, scoring 92 points but then followed it up with a rank 36. However, with the Bombers likely to dominate the Dockers, this is one where McDonald-Tipungwuti (thank God for copy and paste) can get on top.

Midfield

David Zaharakis ($15,350)

David Zaharakis has been in some stellar form and he can’t be ignored by me or these write-ups any longer. Zaha has averaged a mighty 111 Draftstars points over his past three matches, including a scintillating 38 disposals and 130 points last week against the Suns. I’d say the Dockers are more likely to send a tagger to teammate Zach Merrett than Zaharakis, leaving him free to gather possessions at will. Six tons and a 96 in his past seven.

Kane Lambert ($12,650)

Kane Lambert’s back-half of the season has been simply superb. The Tiger has spent some more time in the guts which has lifted his Draftstars output, posting eight 90+ scores in his past 11 matches including five tons. Is averaging a handy 100 Draftstars points from his past three and his last game at the G’ yielded 100 points exactly. Pure energies, there.

Jack Graham ($9,750)

If it hadn’t been for injuries, Jack Graham would have been in the Tiger line-up from Round 1. Graham was crowned the best player of the National Championships last week, but somehow slipped to pick 55 in the draft. The youngster is a bull at a gate and his body is ready-made for AFL. I’m expecting a promising debut from the young Tiger.

David Myers ($9,650)

I have been pretty underwhelmed with Myers’ Draftstars season, averaging an unimpressive 65 points per game from his 13 matches. However, Myers has churned out two 80’s in his past three games, which makes him a solid buy for this one. Factor in that the Dons should pants the Dockers and this looks like a pick with massive upside.

Defence

Nick Vlastuin ($10,600)

Nick Vlastuin has been in some solid Draftstars form since returning to the Tiger line-up. The Sam McClure lookalike has churned out back-to-back 92’s in the past fortnight as well as three other 80+ totals in his past six matches. He remains at this cheap price due to his awful start to the year, where he posted five totals under 50. Looks to be a worthy selection.

Andrew McGrath ($10,300)

Oooh ah, Andrew McGrath has also had quite a good fortnight, hitting scores of 87 and 88. We can pick up the #1 pick at this price due to his stinking 39 a few weeks ago. With the Dons up against Fremantle, I’d expect McGrath to get his hands on the footy, as he has done the past two weeks.

Ruck

Tom Bellchambers ($10,900)

The astute Draftstars player will look to select their ruckman first, and Bellchambers immediately stood out to me as a value selection. The Bellchamber of Secrets is going at a solid 81 Draftstars points per game this season, but it is his opposition that has me chomping at the bit to get him in my side. With Sean Darcy’s suspension, Jonathon Griffin has been handed the #1 ruck mantle for the Dockers. Bellchambers posted an impressive 116 points against second rate ruckman Keegan Brooksby last week, and he should give Griffin similar treatment on Sunday.
