AFL $60,000+ KANGAROOS V HAWKS
Hawks games have turned into really high-scoring dfs games lately so coaches should select for ceilings here to factor in the finish.
Selection has heavily influenced our choices here with McEvoy likely to enjoy a solid bump sans Ceglar and we’ve also tried to take advantage of Jed Anderson’s omission in the North midfield.
I’m expecting a pretty contested game early but I do anticipate a high-possession game overall so i’m taking guys who inside and outside scoring ability where possible.
Here is my team you can consider using, or building around, for tonight’s Roos v Hawks contest.
FORWARD
James Worpel ($13,560): Worpel is building into a really solid onballer this season and looms as someone who won’t let you down in terms of his floor. What he has not yet done is pump out really big numbers so it does get hard to have him over 13k. I’m liking him for a 100-110pt game which is enough for me at this price.
Luke Davies-Unaicke ($7,030): LDU is our first of three players we’re targeting to get an increased role on-ball in Anderson’s absence. With Shaw having secured the coaching gig, he can now be a lot more pro-active with LDU’s role and expose him to some midfield time with a view to the future. Expecting a 65-70 but he has a safe 50+ floor which you have to be happy copping if you select him.
MIDFIELD
Jack Ziebell ($12,140): Another guy who i can see getting some more midfield minutes this week, like the price tag, don’t see it as the risky play that some will, i just don’t see why coach Shaw would waste him up forward anymore.
Liam Shiels ($14,420): Safe as it gets. lock him in for 3 figures and just hope its closer to 140 than 100.
Jaeger O’Meara ($13,670): See above. Taking the three Hawthorn onballers and hoping they all tear it up.
Paul Ahern ($9,390): Ahern is the third piece of the North midfield puzzle. He spiked last week with a 27 disposal 80+ and he can continue going higher as well. Without Anderson in the side I think Ahern is the player who is most positively impacted so hopefully a lot of coaches look at his box scores and are turned off.
DEFENDERS
Scott Thompson ($8,130): Love Thompson. He can deliver a 70-75pt value game. There is not a lot of premium defensive options so I like the idea of taking some relatively cheap guys and hoping for a paid of 75-80’s.
Grant Birchall ($8,910): Birchall is a pretty safe selection if you are happy with an 8x-9x game. Don’t see him hitting the 90 he needs to pay the tag off, but he walks into a 70.
RUCK
Ben McEvoy ($12,540): Will smash Goldy. Hoping its a 50/50 ownership in the ruck but for mine McEvoy should be 80%+
