AFL SUNDAY $30,000 CHEAT SHEET

Plenty of great value plays to finish off what has been a huge weekend of dfs action.

With plenty of value to be found at either end of the ground, we’re going for a good ol’ fashioned midfield stack to round out the weekend.

Here is my team you can consider using, or building around, for CONTEST

FORWARD

Peter Wright ($8,160)

No longer in the shadow of Tom Lynch, Wright will get to roam up and enjoy plenty of 6pt plays leading up the ground to help his defenders then pushing back towards goals. St Kilda don’t really have a matchup for him let alone a good one so i expect him to get a few goals here and pay off the price tag nicely.

Jack Newnes ($8,980)

Slight concern about whether he will be kept on a HFF or returned to his favoured fantasy role on a half back flank, but i expect it will be the latter based on his preseason and at this price, against the Suns, it just seems a good time to take the risk. Has three-figure upside and could be missed by quite a few and sneak in at low ownership.

MIDFIELD

Stephen Coniglio ($16,540)

Absolute dfs gun and gets another bump due to Dylan shiels not being at GWS this season. A Devon Smith tag is a slight concern but Coniglio’s tackle floor is 40+ and his tank is excellent so even in that contested scenario where he is not getting many cheap kicks, i still expect him to score well. Can push 150+ if he is not paid any attention.

Nat Fyfe ($16,530)

Agai, without lachie Neale in that Dockers midfield Nat Fyfe must go major dfs beast mode to keep Freo in the game. Another dfs stud with 140+ upside. Don’t expect that Coniglio/Fyfe will be paired in many teams either .

Jack Steele ($15,150)

Steele had a fantastic pre-season (101, 107pts in JLT) and his fantasy role really appeals to me – guys with a 40pt tackle floor who can get 20-25 touches are dfs gold. Bit of a POD play given how popular I expect Seb Ross and Jack Stevens to be v the Suns but Steele can have a big 110+ day here.

Andrew Brayshaw ($10,440)

His brother stunk up the MCG yesterday and killed plenty of good lineups but as a dfs coach you have to shake that off and go back to the Brayshaw well. Very solid pre-season playing inside midfield, looks set to benefit from Neal’s departure. Great price.

DEFENDERS

Pearce Hanley ($7,620)

Big risk play but I can see Hanley being tasked with the kick-ins which as we have already seen, carries with it a fantasy points bump. Hanley was once a fantasy beast and whilst those days are over, he can absolutely pay off this price tag if (big IF) he plays four quarters.

Jordan Ridley ($6,820)

Really caught the eye in JLT with a 92 and a 70. Expect he continues that defensive distributor roll here with McGrath likely to spend his time in the midfield rotation. They like it in his hands so i think it’s worth the risk at this near-minimum salary.

RUCK

Dawson Simpson ($9,440)

Big Dawson Simpson may never have made a team on this page in his life but he gets the call up today due to his amazingly secure lone rucking role at GWS. No Mumford and not even any Rory lobb to relegate Simpson to bench rest. Will have to play bulk minutes and does love to tackle for a big man. Expect he can return a solid 75-85pt game here.
