AFLW R2 – $5,000 SUNDAY CONTEST
The Blues are so bad that the Crows could break an AFLW points scoring record today whilst the Dockers have improved so much I expect they will trouble the Lions enough to bring this game right down to the wire.
After a nice cash yesterday we’re looking to go back to back today with two games that could not be more different for coaches to approach.
Selection
Erin Phillips ($12,540): First player picked for mine today. A first-up 69pter against the Kangas and she didn’t really even get into the game. Sarah Perkins being named for Adelaide means Phillips will get more time on ball but still should get used a lot in the forward line. Capable of a big fantasy ton.
Gemma Houghton ($7,750): Really liked what I saw from Houghton first up against the Dees. Taking any Dockers forwards against the best defense in the comp is always risky but I think Houghton could be a great cheap POD play this afternoon.
Ebony Marinoff ($22,730): Paying up for Marinoff for two reasons this afternoon. Firstly she should be under 15% at this price tag and secondly she should be heavily tagged which for any other player would be a problem but for Marinoff it just means she gets more tackles. Dominated the first game and looks set to repeat.
Lauren Brazzale ($6,690): I’m expecting the ball to live in the Carlton defensive fifty which brings points into play for Brazzale. She gets in and tackles and they like her foot skills. Slight risk she could go missing with Bri Davey likely to come back down on that half back line, but I’m taking the risk hoping she stays involved and even pushes into the midfield for a few stints on ball.
Jessica Edwards ($6,720): Taking Marinoff so I may as well take the player who will be on her hip all game. Edwards tagged Kearney first up and did a pretty good job. This assignment should be easier and better from a dfs point of view because Marinoff lacks Kearney’s speed. Hopeful of a 60+ effort at a great price and equally hopeful her being named outside the 21 will keep her ownership way down.
Maddison Prespakis ($9,010): Love this kid. Prespakis is Carlton’s only true midfielder and she does it all. She will just follow the play all game, getting touches and tackles. Awkward price tag really the only knock on her here. 50+ easy.
Marijana Rajcic ($8,580): POD play in defense with Rajcic. Despite where she is named she will play across half back and run through the midfield mostly. She is on the cusp of completely understanding the game and when she does that she will go bang, and she will be in my side when it happens.
Bri Davey ($11,710): Carlton’s best player with daylight second, the Blues can’t afford for Davey to languish up forward all game again. She still managed 49pts last week but towards the end of the game she spent some time onball which I think is a clear sign that she will come back into defense/midfield here to provide some drive off half back. Can go big if played in right spot.
Sabrina Fredreick-Traub ($13,920): Sabs should be lowly owned this afternoon despite a first-up 72pt effort. Todays game should be much more open and if the Dockers keep Ebony Antonio forward then Sabs will have a pretty easy time of it in the Lions forward line. Hoping for a big 90+ at sub 20% to really bust this slate.
