AFL $50,000+ SATURDAY

Make sure you are watching the weather because being on the wrong side of rain could make all the difference today.

Plenty of cash up for grabs in this great five-gamer so let’s rip into it with question number one – do you take Brodie Grundy?

This question will inform so many others. For mine, i’m just not going to get to him. Sure he may get 150, but so could Gawn or even Witts in this spot, plus as a rule I don’t like paying up for rucks.

Here is my team you can consider using, or building around, for Saturday’s $50,000+ contest.

FORWARD

Tom Hawkins ($11,070): Love big Tommy against the Swans, I just pray it doesn’t rain. Without Heath Grundy, Sydney don’t have a big key defender for Hawkins and will have to rely on Melican to get the job done which spells points for Hawkins.

Jaidyn Stephenson ($11,000): So consistent. Great floor hovering around that 80pt mark which is built on lead up mark/kick stats. If he snags a few goals will push the ton.

MIDFIELD

Cam Ellis-Yolmen ($11,800): Kind of point-chasing here a little but without Matty Crouch in that Crows midfield, CEY has stepped up. Expect that continues here against the Dees, and that CEY keeps Clayton Oliver company for much of the night which should help his tackle count.

George Hewett ($9,930): Could go horribly wrong this one but Hewett has played well when he hasn’t has a big fish to fry so to speak. With Kennedy gone, Sydney need a hands-first clearance guy and that’s Hewett. Had big games in Tassie against North and in Brisbane against the Lions when given more midfield responsibility.

Chris Mayne ($12,270): Tracking in the right direction post-injury, Mayne comes up against the old foe in probably career best form in his new-found wing role. Will want a big game and can deliver one here.

Cam Guthrie ($11,390): Averaging 90+ in three games at Kardinia Park and without Ablett the flow-on effects could see Guthrie produce a monster 110+ game at a great price. Risky play as he has a horrid floor.

DEFENDERS

Lachie Weller ($11,180): It will be wet in Sydney but Weller doesn’t need a lot of marks to score and without Harbrow and Hanley he will be the guy getting hands and surging the ball forwards. Add 30pts to his score in kick-ins alone here I reckon. Single digits. if it dries up he will go gangbusters.

Mitch Duncan ($14,490): Our only real stud. Playing amazing footy and loved Kardinia Park where he is averaging 125pts in last three games.

RUCK

Archie Smith ($5,000): When i see a rookie-priced ruckman with experience i’m interested and Smith has had a few years in the NEAFL now to hone his forward and ruck craft. I’m hoping purely for a 50-60pt game here.
