AUSTRALIA v SRI LANKA 1ST TEST: TIPS & SELECTIONS
Australia return to the test arena when they begin a two-test series with Sri Lanka at the Gabba on Thursday.
Australia were beaten by India in both the test and ODI series, but will be strong favourite to gain a morale boosting win against a Sri Lanka beaten in all formats by New Zealand.
There is $7,000 in the jackpot tournament for the 1st Test as well as Free to Play and fun tournaments.
We pick out some of the players you should have in your selections for the 1st Test and our seven-man line-up.
Pat Cummins ($23,200)
Pat Cummins had an amazing series against India (163 runs, 14 wickets), showing great maturity and consistency. There’s likely to be even more expected of him with Josh Hazlewood set to miss out through injury, but he will have the support of Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. Expect Cummins to enjoy another big test.
Dimuth Karunaratne ($16,200)
He may have scored just 96 runs in the test series against New Zealand, but Dimuth Karunaratneās presence at the top of the order is a positive for the Sri Lankans. He needs to get back among runs, but he looks up to the task of doing so.
Marcus Harris ($14,200)
While many of the Aussie batting order were ruthlessly exposed in the series defeat to India, Marcus Harris top scored for the hosts with 258 runs at an average 36.85. For a man making his debut, he came up with plenty of credit. The opener can build on those performances against India.
Kusal Mendis ($14,000)
The absence of Angelo Mathews, Sri Lanka’s top-scorer from the New Zealand test series, puts added pressure on KusalĀ Mendis. He scored 225 runs against the Black Caps in that series and look in good enough nick to think he can lead the way for the Lankas with the bat in this series.
