Looking to bolster your own line-up? Here’s a few best buys to consider.

Defenders

Sam Docherty – Carlton – $15,400

It’s highly unlikely that Docherty will get anywhere near the 161 points he scored last round against Sydney, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a solid choice this round. He ranks third for disposals among defenders in the AFL behind Jake Lloyd and Rory Laird, ranking fifth for disposals in the defensive 50 among all players.

Dylan Roberton – St Kilda – $14,900

Roberton is playing the perfect fantasy role in 2017. Averaging an impressive 128 points from his past three games, he ranks second in the competition for disposals and uncontested marks in the defensive 50. He also ranks seventh in the league for kick-ins to himself which further adds to his appeal in Draftstars.

Jason Johannisen – Western Bulldogs – $10,800

Despite coming off a season-low 66 points last round, Johannisen should bounce back this round against Richmond. When he last came up against the Tigers in 2016, he finished with 22 disposals, 10 marks and 90 points – his best return against the yellow and black.

Forwards

Nick Riewoldt – St Kilda – $14,900

It’s hard to overlook Riewoldt no matter who he comes up against. Scoring 110 points in three of five games already in 2017, his record against the Giants at Etihad Stadium is exceptional, averaging 124 points from his three games. He has also hit the scoreboard, booting a combined 10.2.

Tom Lynch – Adelaide Crows – $12,750

After starting the season with just 54 points, Lynch has been a model of consistency since, scoring 100+ in all but one match. He comes up against a North Melbourne side that concedes the third-most inside 50s of any side, so he’ll have plenty of chances to hit the scoreboard. Lynch is a unique option in Draftstars.

Isaac Heeney – Sydney Swans – $11,300

Heeney was back in the thick of the action last week against Carlton, attending 21 centre bounces on his way to 120 points. He won plenty of the ball in space, winning 18 uncontested possessions, while he also hit the scoreboard with one goal. Heeney was also involved in seven scoring chains, the equal second-most of any Swan.

Midfielders

Gary Ablett – Gold Coast Suns – $17,150

Ablett has only played one poor game in 2017 – scoring 70 points in Round 2 against the Giants. He has dominated since, averaging 134 points from his past four games. Fresh off a 162-point haul in Round 6, he faces a Cats side he has averaged 30 disposals against across his career.

Joel Selwood – Geelong Cats – $15,550

Selwood never plays two poor games in a row, so I’m expecting him to respond against Gold Coast. He has dominated in his past two games against the Suns, posting scores of 137 and 126 points in that order. Selwood averages 29 disposals and 104 points against them at Metricon Stadium.

Dustin Martin – Richmond – $14,600

With three scores of 120+ points already under his belt in 2017, Martin should post another decent score this round against Western Bulldogs. He averages 28 disposals against the Bulldogs from eight career games, returning scores of 114 and 103 from his past two outings.

Rucks

Shane Mumford – Greater Western Sydney – $12,700

Mumford has attended 20 more ruck contests than any other ruckman in 2017, ranking second for hitouts behind Aaron Sandilands. His past two scores against St Kilda at Etihad Stadium have been poor (66 and 64 points) – however, in his first game against them as a Giant, he finished with 46 hitouts and 132 points.
