Looking to bolster your own line-up? Here’s a few best buys to consider.

Defenders

Rory Laird – Adelaide Crows – $14,600

With back-to-back 37-disposal games, all roads lead to Laird once again this round. He has dominated against sides outside the top eight all season, averaging 33 disposals, two intercept marks and 104 points. Laird ranks second in the AFL for handball-receives and is a super buy!

Nic Newman – Sydney Swans – $13,150

An injury to Jarred McVeigh can only be seen as a positive for Newman. After a breakout game on the weekend, he returns to Etihad Stadium this round to face St Kilda. Newman won 26 disposals and 97 points in the defensive half of the ground in Round 8.

Matthew Scharenberg – Collingwood – $7,400

Scharenberg has to play for Collingwood this week after collecting 34 disposals in each of his past two VFL games. With an injury to Ben Reid, there is a role for him in the side, despite Reid being used in the forward-line against the Giants. A great value pick in Draftstars.

Forwards

Lance Franklin – Sydney Swans – $14,300

Sydney’s form slump could be a thing of the past. It faces a much sterner test this round, with a clash against the high-flying St Kilda at Etihad Stadium. When Franklin last faced the Saints there in Round 21 last season he had a blinder, finishing with six goals and 139 points.

Midfielder/Forward

Dustin Martin – Richmond – $15,050

Martin has been inconsistent in his two interstate matches this season, scoring 63 and 107 points respectively. In saying that, I’m expecting a solid score from him this round against the Giants. Stephen Coniglio missing also helps his cause.

Toby Greene – Greater Western Sydney – $12,750

Greene will be keen to atone for his two-game suspension. He returns to the side this week against Richmond, a side he has scored 87 and 81 points against at Spotless Stadium from his two games. Greene scored 102 points in his only match there this season.

Midfielders

Zach Merrett – Essendon – $16,950

After amassing at least 28 disposals in every game this season, Merrett should once again reward you in Draftstars. With only two sub 100-point scores at Etihad Stadium from his past 10 games at the venue, another bumper score is definitely on the cards.

Rory Sloane – Adelaide Crows – $15,100

You can disregard Rory Sloane’s last two games after being shut down successfully by Sam Gibson and Bernie Vince. This is a new round and he heads to the Gabba to play the Lions, a side he scored 160 points against in his last full game there in 2014 – finishing with 28 disposals and 11 tackles.

Patrick Dangerfield – Geelong Cats – $14,750

Dangerfield will be looking forward to heading home to Simonds Stadium on Friday night, a venue he averaged 31 disposals and 119 points at in 2016. He had a night out when he played the Bulldogs in Round 19, finishing with 33 disposals, three goals and 135 points.

Rucks

Brodie Grundy – Collingwood – $13,400

Grundy’s inclusion is dependent on whether Mason Cox is named to return. Grundy should dominate against Hawthorn if he’s the sole ruckman, with the Hawks conceding the sixth-most hitouts of any side in the competition since Round 4. Grundy scored 111 points minus Cox last round.
