BBL $15K+ SCORCHERS V STRIKERS

scorch_strikers

BBL returns to “The Furnace” with the second leg of the Friday night double header seeing the Perth Scorchers take on the Adelaide Strikers. The Strikers are coming off a tough loss against the Heat where their bowling lineup was exposed to the firepower of the Heat, this is no easier assignment. The Scorchers are in the midst of an injury crisis with most of their bowling lineup under an injury cloud. There was a staggering 21 sixes in the Strikers vs Heat match we can expect a similar result here, it looks a good match to take advantage of the Clear the Fence promotion. Draftstars will be running a $15,000+ guaranteed game with $3,000 going to first place.

Here is a team you may consider for the BBL Scorchers v Strikers $15k+ game.:

Wicketkeeper

Ben Dunk ($8,000)

One of the stars of Adelaide’s last match, Dunk blasted 85 off 43 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. He dominated the power play at the start of the innings and there is no reason why he cannot do it again. At this stage of the tournament, Perth does not have the strongest bowling lineup, meaning that Dunk can get on top of them from the outset.

Batsmen

Jake Weatherald ($8,000)

Dunk’s opening batting partner was just as impressive in Adelaide’s last match, smashing 52 of 30 balls, clearing the fence 4 times. The 22 year possesses a menacing pull shot, which the extra pace and bounce of the WACA ground will hopefully suit. Weatherald’s salary is bound to increase after this match, so make sure you snap him up now while he’s cheap.

Michael Klinger ($13,450)

On the other age of the experience spectrum, Klinger is one of the elder statesmen of the domestic game. The all-time leading Big bash runs scorer, Klinger will be at the end of the experienced Scorchers batting lineup, who need to deliver to protect their deplete bowling lineup.

Bowlers

Kane Richardson ($15,400)

Richardson started his BBL06 campaign with figures of 1/37 of 3 overs, finishing with 30 Draftstars points. Whilst it wasn’t his best performance, he doesn’t have to bowl to Brendon McCullum here. Richardson averaged over 50 Draftstars points last season, so look for him to get back to that average in this match.

Mitchell Johnson ($15,000)

The former champion is back playing for the Scorchers in BBL06 and will be spearheading their attack due to the injury crisis. It will be interesting to see how well Johnson has retained his pace, which was his best weapon in his international career. He is still a clear wicket taking threat, but if he has regressed since the end of his international career, he might get hit for a lot of runs. Johnson can also provide lower order hitting if needed.

Allrounder

Mitchell Marsh ($17,500)

Marsh will be set to play the first half of BBL06 after being dumped from the test side. Marsh is one of the best white ball cricketers in Australia and is a welcome addition for the Scorchers. He will have to bowl his full allotment of overs and will be batting in the top 5 making him an ideal prospect for selection. Apart from his run with the test side, he has been in great form, hitting a century in the ODIs as well as another 90 in a warm up T20 game.

Flex

Chris Jordan ($17,400)

The English international had a strong start to his BBL06 campaign, taking two wickets and two catches against Brisbane. Jordan was a little bit expensive, as were all bowlers, but he will be better for the run. The Perth wicket with its extra pace and bounce will suit him. Jordan is also a big hitter of the ball if he is required to bat.
