THE HANGOVER: DRAFTSTARS WEEKLY WRAP
If you can believe it, it is already late October. The leaves are turning brown and falling to the ground, the spring carnival is garnering a nation and the NBA is unbelievably close to kicking off.
Over the weekend the preseason tournament wrapped up and now we only have to wait until Thursday for the regular season to kick off. Though preseason means all but nothing some narratives look like they will come out of the forthcoming season.
Philly… Who will beat them in the East? They should jump Toronto, but what about Milwaukee?
The West is going to be insane. Will the title come to L.A.? Will it be the Clippers or Lakers? Maybe Russ and Harden will click in Houston.
What about rookies? Who will win you early contests before their price sky rockets?
Regardless, Draftstars will have you covered across every single game.
Week seven of the NFL was another cracker. Nine teams broke the 30-point barrier and the Vikings and Packers exploded for 42 a pop.
Naturally, some players had monster games. Aaron Rodgers shook off a slow start to the season to do GOAT things and throw for 429 yards and five scores as well as running in one. The Packers are now 6-1 and look like the most challenging match up for the all-conquering Patriots.
Detroit receiver Marvin Jones had a career day as he hauled in four TDs. It was his second four TD game and he became just the third player to complete the feat in history.
Despite his efforts, the Lions fell to the Vikings. Minnesota’s 5-2 record puts them in the log jam just behind the six win sides. The 49ers won again, 9-0. It was a horrible game but they are still undefeated.
Green Bay, New Orleans and Buffalo are solid and have only lost one game. But let us face it… New England. And the biggest question mark hangs over the Chiefs who will be without Pat Mahomes who dislocated his kneecap.
Across the pond, and using a round ball, Liverpool remained undefeated as they look to avenge the heartbreak of last year. They are undefeated so far this year and sit two wins clear of last year’s nemesis, City. They will play each other on 11/11, so Red’s fans, make your wish.
The A-league is in full swing and the Sydney sides look strong. Adam Le Fondre was the chief destroyer for Sydney FC at the weekend with two goals and 27 DS points.
NFL WEEK SEVEN
As mentioned, Aaron Rodgers was the man in week seven. His monster day earnt him 43.76 DS points which was the top score on Monday. Selected by just two per cent of entrants, he was the difference maker.
Do not, and I cannot stress this enough, mock Aaron Rodgers.
Marvin Jones was just .46 points behind on 43.30. But he cost $4.5k less.
Still, it was Arizona RB Chase Edmonds who was the best value pick up. There was some mail for Edmonds who had 27 carries against the Giants for 126 yards and three TDs. In the two games prior he has 13 carries. If you made the call after DJ’s injury and were one of the three per cent who selected him, well done.
Another injury fill in was Latavius Murray. Stepping in for Alvin Kamara, Murray had 32 DS points for his buck 50 all-purpose yards and two scores. The Saints are legit, without Drew Brees, Teddy Bridgwater is undefeated and they are rolling. The smart money was on Murray and he was selected by 31 per cent of users.
Monday’s contest winner Knova blew the competition away to pocket all but $2,500 cash. Knova scored 217.96 DS points, over 18 more than the next best. Having Marvin Jones, Latavius Murray and, second top scoring QB, Matt Stafford will do that for you.
And don’t forget to check out the NBA previews to get into the swing of things before Thurday!
