The Late Cut: NBA $7,000 Tuesday
After a very small Monday, we are treated to a bumper eleven match slate for Draftstars’ NBA $7,000+ Tuesday game. There looks to be a lot of shootouts, which means that there are a lot of high scores to be had. The highlight of the day’s play sees the Clippers travel to Utah to play the Jazz. Draftstars will be running a $7,000 game for today’s matches, with $1,400 going to first place.
Saturday’s Score: 317.5
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $7k+ Tuesday competition
Point Guard
Damian Lillard ($15,600)
Lillard has put his head down and gone to work recently, determined to get the inconsistent Trail Blazer’s season back on track. Lillard has averaged 47.3 DS points over his last three matches, which has come off the back of him increasing the number of shots he has per game. Lillard will need to be at his best to overcome an inform Hawks outfit, but the way he has been playing lately indicated that he is at his best.
Jameer Nelson ($7,300)
With Nuggets first choice Emmanuel Mudiay likely to miss again, his replacement, Jameer Nelson, is a good value pick. Nelson is a quality ‘pass first’ point guard, who has provided Denver with at least 8 assists in his past three matches. Nelson’s Nuggets are coming up against the all-conquering Warriors, but, because Warriors matches tend to be high scoring, Nelson should still enjoy a reasonable day.
Shooting Guard
Wayne Ellington ($7,400)
Ellington should start again for the heat with Dion Waiters still struggling with his ankle injury. Ellington has been deadly from beyond the arc recently, posting multiple 3-pointers in his last five matches. With limited options in the back court for the heat, Ellington should play a large chunk of minutes, which gives him a good opportunity to rack up a big score.
Tony Allen ($8,250)
The extremely consistent Allen goes into his match against the lowly Nets with his last three scores being over 24.75 DS points. Allen is a defensive weapon, he is a great rebounder for his size and picked up either a steal or a block in his last 10 matches. Allen can continue this against the Nets. Hopefully the game is not a huge blowout and Allen plays his full allotment of minutes.
Small Forward
Kawhi Leonard ($15,450)
Leonard has hit the ground running coming back from injury, averaging over 50 DS points in the three matches he has played. Leonard almost carried the Spurs to victory in their last game against the Knicks, putting in 36 points on his way to 56.75 DS points. Leonard will go head to head with star Pacer Paul George in this match, look for him to stamp his authority on the match with yet another big performance.
C.J. Miles ($6,400)
Miles is more of a risky selection as he has the potential to score very high, or very low. When Miles is on, he is a destructive scorer, especially from deep. In two of this last three matches, Miles has scored 23 points with 18 of them being from behind the arc, in the other match in his last three, he finished with a total of three points. A selection like C.J. Miles can rocket your team to the top of the leaderboard if he goes off, but there is an obvious downside.
Power Forward
Dwight Howard ($14,600)
Howard should be able to dominate the board against the Trail Blazers, who are without Mason Plumlee, who was traded to the Nuggets. The Trail Blazers have back up big man Ed Davis starting, who should prove no match for big Dwight. Howard has posted double digit rebounds in ten out of his last eleven. There is no reason why that streak should not continue.
Dirk Nowitzki ($10,600)
The wily veteran has started to heat up a little bit as his resurgent Mavericks are pushing for an unlikely playoff spot. Nowitzki has come up in the clutch moments in his last couple of matches, hitting a last second shot to take the Utah game to overtime as well as hitting a last minute go ahead shot against Portland. Whilst Nowitzki does not get as much court time as he used to, he is very efficient, and should still be able to get a decent score.
Centre
Blake Griffin ($14,050)
Griffin has been brilliant across his last three matches, averaging an incredible 53.4 DS points. The Clippers big man is an explosive weapon, able to contribute in all three main facets of the game, which ensures that he consistently scores big points. Griffin’s Clippers come up against the inform Jazz, but there is no reason why Griffin cannot continue his hot run with another big performance.
