NBA $30,000 Thursday Lineup Tips
We are approximately one quarter of the way through the NBA season and the some clear contenders are starting to emerge. The usual suspects are all at the top of the standings, the Warriors, Rockets, Spurs, Celtics and Cavaliers are all positioned nicely with the biggest surprise packets, the Pistons sitting in second position in the East. The Thunder are still struggling to gel and after a hot start to the season, the Grizzlies have plummeted down the rankings losing eight in a row, which resulted in them sacked their coach. There are a huge ten matches to pick your team from today with the highlight being Washington taking on the high flying 76ers.
Here is a team you may consider for the NBA $30k+ Thursday competition
Point Guard
Dennis Smith Jr ($10,800)
Smith is part of a very impressive rookie class that has been one of the most interesting story lines of the season. Smith, Tatum, Markannen, Ball, Kuzma, Mitchell, Jackson and of course Ben Simmons have all started their careers in excellent fashion, which hopefully they can continue on for the next ten years. Smith has locked in the starting role for the Mavericks and gets a great matchup against the Nets. Smith is a shoot first point guard, which means that if he has a good shooting night, he has the chance to score big.
Darren Collinson ($10,750)
With teammate Victor Oladipo still under an injury cloud, Collinson looks as though his usage will increase. Collinson has been the very definition of a boom or bust player, which is risky, but can really pay off for you when he does fire up. Collinson has five scores of above 40 DS points, but he has mixed that in with seven scores of under 20 DS points. Collinson faces up against the Rockets who play extremely fast, meaning that Collinson should be able to score well.
Shooting Guard
Bradley Beal ($14,650)
With All-Star teammate John Wall out for an extended period of time, it is time to get on board the Bradley Beal bandwagon. Beal will be the primary offensive weapon for the Wizards, which means that his scoring over the next few weeks should spike. Beal and his Wizards take on the 76ers, who may be without Ben Simmons. Beal should be able to dominate that matchup and score well. He looks like a must pick.
Jrue Holiday ($11,800)
Holiday is another boom or bust type player that can be the difference for your lineup if he has a good day. Holiday is a streaky three point shooter, but has been relatively consistent over his past few games. Holiday and his Pelicans come up against the Timberwolves who are coming off back to back games. The Wolves aren’t great defensively and due to the high tempo of the game, Holiday should be able to score well.
Small Forward
Tobias Harris ($12,050)
Tobias Harris has been balling this season and is a big reason why the Pistons sit second in the Eastern Conference. Harris is lethal from beyond the arc, in his last game against the Celtics, Harris dropped five 3-pointers on his way to 44.75 DS points. The Pistons take on the Suns who are probably the worst team in the league defensively, so as long as the Pistons do not blow the Suns out, Harris should enjoy another big day.
Norman Powell ($8,150)
Powell is the leader of the best bench unit in the league. The Raptors second unit has been killing it this season, with the like of C.J Miles and rookie OG Anunoby all playing exceptionally well. With DeMar DeRozan under an injury cloud, Powell looks as though he could play another 30 minutes like his did in his last match, and that is more than enough time for his to rack up a decent score. Powell looks like a great value pick for today’s matches.
Power Forward
Robert Covington ($11,050)
It is fair to say that Covington absolutely stunk it up against the Cavaliers. He shot 1/11 from the field on his way to 11 DS points. It was also the first time this season he has not scored at least one 3-pointer. Covington has been performing very well this season and is in the upper echelon for catch and shoot players in the league. He gets an easier match up against the Wizards, and he can only improve on his last performance.
Maxi Kleber ($5,000)
Kleber is more of a speculative pick than anything, but he should see plenty of minutes against the Nets. The Nets have struggle against big men all season, and with Kleber most likely getting the start, he looks like a good play. Kleber is a decent rebounder and can shoot, but the most important stat for picking your Draftstars team is minutes, which he should get plenty of. He is a great value option at his salary.
Centre
Marc Gasol ($14,950)
After starting the season in tremendoud fashion, the grizzlies are in a slump and have fired their coach David Fizdale. Many thought that the final straw was Coach Fiz benching Gasol for the last quarter against the Nets, so I’m tipping that the new coach will give Gasol plenty of minutes. There were also rumours of Fizdale and Gasol falling out, so look for a statement game from the big Spaniard.
