NBA Superstar Showdown – Durant vs Westbrook
We are back with another NBA Superstar Showdown and this one is the biggest rivalry of them all, Kevin Durant vs Russell Westbrook. After playing together for eight years, Durant left OKC to move across to the Warriors, who had just beaten them in the playoffs. Westbrook responded by playing one of the greatest statistical season of all time and Durant won a title. It’s Draftstars NBA Superstar Showdown, who you got?
How it Works
The Draftstars Superstar Showdown sees us pit two superstars of the game against each other in a free Turbo contest. If you choose the higher scoring player out of the two, you score a bonus bet in the form of a $2 entry ticket. If not, don’t worry, the top 25 highest scores in the showdown win $10. Durant
KD is one of the most efficient high volume players in the league. He is a lethal shooter from anywhere on the floor and he is a creative playmaker for the Warriors juggernaut. However, he is coming into this game under an injury cloud. Durant rolled his ankle a few days ago and missed the Warriors last game against the Nets. He should be fit enough to play against the Thunder, and even if he wasn’t 100%, it would be very hard to keep him out of the game.
Westbrook
Westbrook’s numbers have regressed this season from his superhuman levels last year, to more human-like levels (still good). In his MVP season, he averaged 32 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists, but with the additions of Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to the team, Westbrook has reduced his usage rates and is now (only) averaging 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 9.5 assists. With the extra motivation of going up against the Warriors, Westbrook will likely take matters into his own hands and look to shoot more.
The Verdict
One of the most heated player rivalries in the NBA is taking place with two former teammates facing off against each other. Durant has been playing very well this season with Westbrook starting the season more slowly than many were expecting. This is the day that Westbrook turns it around. He will dominate this contest, partly due to him having the extra motivation to go after the Warriors, and partly due to Durant’s injured ankle. I am expecting Westbrook to win the Superstar Showdown.
