NBA Superstar Showdown – Simmons v Lonzo
We are back with another NBA Superstar Showdown and it is a battle between two of the emerging stars of the league, Ben Simmons vs Lonzo Ball. Both players are in their rookie seasons and are taking the league by storm. Simmons is smashing rookie records with his consistent level of high performance, whilst Lonzo just became the youngest player ever to record a triple double. It’s a Draftstars Superstar Showdown, who you got?

Simmons
Ben Simmons would have to be one of the most impressive rookies in recent times. He is lighting up the league with his level of performance and has provided the spark to lead Philadelphia to six wins so far this year. Simmons has averaged 17 points/9 rebounds/8 assists/2 steals so far in his 12 game NBA career, even at this early stage of the season, it appears he has one hand on the rookie of the year trophy. There is no reason why he cannot continue his good run against the Lakers who struggle defensively. Look for Big Ben to have another big day.
Lonzo
Lonzo Ball has started to deliver on the ridiculous level of hype that surrounded him, recording his first ever triple double against the Bucks. Lonzo entered the league as the most hyped rookie since LeBron (mainly thanks to his father and ESPN) and has at times seemed unworthy of such hype (shooting at under 30% from the field), but he has finally had his breakout game. Whilst Lonzo might not be as efficient as Ben Simmons, he can still rack up stats in all facets of the game, which makes this a tighter contest than most people will think.
The Verdict
With a total of 27 games of NBA combined experience, it seems premature for these two players to be facing off in a Superstar Showdown, but these two rookies are not normal. Simmons has been playing like a fifth year veteran with his composure and production, and Lonzo is showing flashes of brilliance. Realistically, Simmons should dominate this matchup and score an easy win, but if Lonzo gets hot, he could easily steal this (just like his little brother).
