NRL $1,000+ Bulldogs v Knights Line-Up

There’s only one game this Sunday as the thirteenth placed Bulldogs take on the last placed Knights. This should be a competitive contest as the Bulldogs will be without Origin stars Josh Jackson, David Klemmer and Brett Morris while captain James Graham is still injured.

Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $1,000+ Bulldogs v Knights competition

Front Row Forward

Aiden Tolman ($14,550)

The stand-in Bulldogs skipper was phenomenal against the Eels last round, playing 82 minutes in the absence of James Graham and laying 53 tackles. With David Klemmer also missing this round, the Bulldogs are severely lacking in middle forwards and there is every chance that Tolman will once again be called upon to play the full game. On the two occasions he’s played the entire game this season, Tolman has made over 50 tackle and 140 metres each time and is averaging 68.7 Draftstars points.

Mitchell Barnett ($13,800)

Barnett has thrived in his return to the starting line-up in the last three weeks, providing the Knights with a strong defensive presence in the middle of the park. Against a depleted Dogs’ pack, Barnett will also be looking to use his running game to gain metres and create some repeat sets in attack, while his ability to play big minutes makes him enticing in this contest.

Hooker

Danny Levi ($9,850)

While Michael Lichaa has been scoring well recently, the extra money that Levi frees up for you makes him the better choice. Despite his small frame, Levi has managed to continually put in massive defensive efforts, including four games with over 40 tackles. His quick service out of dummy-half has been impressive as well and it has led to some opposition defensive mistakes and Newcastle tries.

Second Row Forward

Adam Elliott ($8,950)

Elliott has been solid for the Bulldogs this season, providing them with solid metres and defence. He presents value in this contest due to the likelihood that he’ll play the full 80 minutes given that Josh Jackson, David Klemmer and James Graham are all missing. When he plays the full game, Elliott averages 47 Draftstars points thanks to more tackles, more metres and more tackle breaks, and given the Bulldogs lack of forwards, he should be in for another big score on Sunday.

Raymond Faitala-Mariner ($7,550)

Faitala-Mariner has been used infrequently off the bench for the Dogs, playing anywhere between 3 and 71 minutes in certain games this season. This week he’s been given the opportunity to start for the first time, which means more minutes and more Draftstars points. His running game is dangerous thanks to his ability to offload and create a repeat set, but also his ability to break through tackles and make himself a threat near the try line. Defensively, he’s missed just seven tackles all season, so he won’t cost you points there either.

Centre

Josh Morris ($8,850)

In a contest where most of the centres are similarly priced, Morris is the safest bet due to his consistency. Morris is consistently good in defence and his strong running game usually results in plenty of metres, a few offloads and some tackle busts. If he scores a try, his scoring goes through the roof and his score of 70.30 Draftstars points in round nine against the Raiders is proof of that.

Half

Moses Mbye ($13,950)

After a very slow start to the season that saw Mbye cop criticism from all angles, Mbye has been simply phenomenal in the past three weeks. His kicking game has been better and his running game has resulted in plenty of opportunities for the Bulldogs in attack. He’s broken ten tackles, assisted a try and made a line break in the past three weeks and has finally started to look dangerous as a playmaker again. Coming up against a poor Newcastle defence, there is every chance Mbye has a massive game in attack.

Wing/Fullback

Will Hopoate ($11,000)

Hopoate has been excellent since he returned from injury, providing the Bulldogs with plenty of thrust from his kick returns. Last week he made a whopping 329 metres and broke six tackles in a huge running performance. Even though he hasn’t found the try line yet, Hopoate has still managed to average 38.7 Draftstars points thanks to his massive metre and tackle break numbers. Against the Knights, he’s every chance to break his try scoring drought and end up with an even bigger score.

Nathan Ross ($10,900)

Playing his preferred position last week, Gray was solid but unspectacular, ending with 105 metres, two offloads and a tackle break in South Sydney’s dominant win. He gets another chance in the centres this week and will be looking to give more in attack in what is a crucial contest for the Bunnies. He has great try scoring ability, can break the defensive line as well and has good history against the Roosters.
