NRL $1,000+ Bulldogs v Panthers Line-Up
Round 13 closes with a huge contest between the eleventh placed Bulldogs and tenth placed Panthers. The Bulldogs have lost their last three games, but have been competitive in tight contests against three top eight teams. The Panthers are fresh off of the bye and have had some confidence building wins over the Warriors and Knights in recent weeks, which should make for a fascinating contest.
Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $1,000+ Bulldogs v Panthers competition
Front Row Forward
Aiden Tolman ($14,300)
Tolman has been an absolute workhorse this season and has set the standard for no nonsense props everywhere. Last week exemplified this, as Tolman was forced to play the full 80 minutes in the absence of Origin stars David Klemmer and Josh Jackson when his skipper James Graham went down injured. Tolman currently sits fourth in the league in tackles and is first among non-hookers by a massive 41 tackles. This defensive work rate ensures consistently big scores and makes him worth the extra coin.
James Tamou ($11,800)
After being left out of the New South Wales team for the first time in years, Tamou responded beautifully with his best match of the year against the Knights. In what was a throwback to his form at the Cowboys, Tamou managed 153 metres, eight tackle breaks and a try in his 48 minutes. This sort of damaging running performance has been rare for Tamou this season, but his purple patch in the last couple of weeks is encouraging and if Penrith are to be competitive in this game, he will need to ensure they dominate through the middle.
Hooker
Mitch Rein ($11,700)
After contract disputes led to him leaving the Dragons, Rein decided to flee to the Blue Mountains only to find himself languishing in reserve grade as Peter Wallace proved to be a standout early in the season. However, with Wallace injuring his groin, Rein has the chance to prove his worth at this level once again. Rein has been dominating the NSW Cup and will be raring to have a big impact on both ends of the park against the Dogs.
Second Row Forward
Isaah Yeo ($12,750)
Yeo has been a standout for the Panthers in what has been a disappointing season. He was a late out against the Knights in round eleven due to an ankle injury sustained against the Warriors, but has had two weeks off to rehabilitate which should mean he is fit and firing against the Dogs. In that Warriors game, he not only produced his usual dose of tackles and metres, but managed two tries from two line breaks in a crucial performance to the Panthers win.
Adam Elliot ($9,550)
Elliot has thrived since a change of role in round nine saw him move from the bench to the starting line-up. Playing as an 80-minute back-rower in that time, Elliot has averaged a massive 51.77 Draftstars points thanks to his solid tackling, metre eating and his ability to break tackles in attack. He hasn’t dipped below 40 Draftstars points in the last four rounds and considering he scored a massive 66.80 against the Raiders, he has a ceiling and floor that is rarely sighted under $10k.
Centre
Brenko Lee ($10,300)
Lee continues to prove his worth to the Bulldogs and has proven to be one of the most underrated off-season acquisitions based on his production so far this year. He looks fitter and quicker and has played as such, with his ability to impact the attack in a variety of ways making the Bulldogs more dangerous. He will be looking to attack the returning winger Josh Mansour and centre Dean Whare in what is a favourable matchup for the imposing Bulldogs centre.
Half
Matt Frawley ($8,550)
Frawley has taken over from the injured Josh Reynolds at five-eighth in the last three weeks and has certainly held his own. Whilst he isn’t the flashiest of players, his ability to control and manage the game from the halves is impressive and his decision making on his kicks looks to have improved as well. His combination with the inconsistent Mbye still needs improvement, but this should only result in better scoring for Frawley once they start to click. Until then, his kicking metres and ability to bust tackles makes him great value in a weak group of halves.
Wing/Fullback
Matt Moylan ($11,450)
Moylan has been scintillating in the last couple of weeks, showing off his incredible attacking skills whilst leading the Panthers to victory. With four tries in his last three games, it seems as though Moylan has overcome his form issues at the start of the year and is ready to propel the Panthers towards the finals once again. With the injury to Bryce Cartwright, Moylan will line up in the halves this week, which will only increase his scoring as it will lead to more opportunities for him to play as a creator. In what will be his first game at club level in the number six jersey, expect a big impact from the supremely talented Panther.
Dylan Edwards ($9,350)
Edwards has only had two chances at first-grade level this season; on the wing in round two and at fullback in round six when Moylan was suspended. With Bryce Cartwright out for multiple weeks and Moylan moving to the halves, Edwards has the chance to cement himself as a permanent fixture in the Panthers’ outside backs. He’s been phenomenal in his two games this year, making massive metres and breaking tackles for fun. The 21-year-old will no doubt rack up some massive metres on kick returns and considering his propensity to break tackles on those runs, he is a good chance to score well.
