NRL $1,000+ Roosters v Rabbitohs Line-Up
Old enemies face off on Friday night as the Roosters take on the Rabbitohs. Despite sitting fourth on the ladder, the Roosters got hammered by the Sharks last week and will be missing the services of their Origin stars for this game. The Rabbitohs will come in full of confidence after smashing the Panthers last week and will be looking to make a belated run at finals.
Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $1,000+ Roosters v Rabbitohs competition
Front Row Forward
Jared Waerea-Hargreaves ($11,550)
Waerea-Hargreaves has found his best football again this season and has provided Sydney with plenty of thrust through the middle. He has had multiple games in which he has made over 170 metres, while his 17 offloads are third most at the Roosters. With Dylan Napa and Boyd Cordner missing for Origin, Waerea-Hargreaves will be asked to shoulder a greater portion of hit ups which should see him rack up plenty of Draftstars points.
Zane Tetevano ($7,450)
Tetevano gets just his second start of the season this week despite featuring in fourteen of the sixteen games this year. He has played over half the game on just two occasions this season and they have been his two most productive games of the season, clocking up 132 and 110 metres respectively and ending up with 41.2 and 33 Draftstars points. Given that he will see similar minutes this week and he comes at just a tick over $7k, he is an excellent option.
Hooker
Jake Friend ($14,900)
Friend has been even more of a workhorse than usual in defence in recent weeks, averaging over 61 tackles per game in his last four games (minus his concussion effected game against the Tigers). He’s back to playing the full 80 minutes in this time and while his impact in defence has increased, he hasn’t lost his ability to create in attack, scoring a try and assisting on another. Add to this a handy kicking game which will be relied upon more heavily in the absence of Mitchell Pearce and it is clear that Friend is the standout hooker in this contest.
Second Row Forward
Sam Burgess ($17,650)
After missing the game against the Titans with a glute injury, Burgess slotted seamlessly back into the Rabbitohs team against the Panthers, ending up with a try, a try assist, three offloads and 37 tackles. The South Sydney forward pack has been starting to gain momentum and plenty of this comes down to Burgess, who consistently racks up metres, tackle breaks and offloads in attack without letting it compromise his defence. Against a depleted Roosters’ pack, Burgess should have a field day.
Isaac Liu ($8,350)
Fuimaono has been thrust into the starting back-row in recent weeks as John Sutton has moved to five-eighth and he has certainly made the most of his time there. Last week, he showcased his damaging running game by breaking seven tackles en route to 116 metres. He played the full 80 minutes and showed no signs of lapsing on the defensive end either, making 30/31 tackles in a solid performance that was overshadowed by that of his fellow back-rower, Angus Crichton. The Bunnies will be looking for a similar performance by Fuimaono if they’re to beat the red-hot Panthers.
Centre
Latrell Mitchell ($11,700)
Mitchell has started to find his feet in the centres after an early season form slump saw him spend some time in reserve grade. His big frame, burst of speed and handy footwork makes for a deadly combination out wide and has led to plenty of score involvements already this season. He leads the Roosters in tries and line breaks and is second in tackle breaks and offloads which just shows how damaging he is in attack. This sort of statistical production is a dream for Draftstars owners, especially against a Bunnies team that can be vulnerable at times on the flanks.
Half
Connor Watson ($9,250)
The talk around Watson’s future hasn’t stopped him from producing on the park this season, filling a number of roles for Sydney. The addition of Luke Keary has seen Watson move to the bench this year, where he has usually been used in very limited minutes. However when given the chance to play for extended minutes Watson has shown plenty, with his craftiness and solid running game providing scoring opportunities in attack. He gets another chance to start at five-eighth this week and will be looking for another good match to showcase why he is one of the hottest young superstars in the competition.
Wing/Fullback
Bryson Goodwin ($10,600)
After agreeing to move to the Super League at the end of the season, Goodwin has hit a purple patch of form in recent weeks. Last week he ended up with a whopping ten tackle breaks as well as two offloads and 115 metres in a solid performance against an atrocious Penrith team. Prior to that he scored a try in both of the previous games and was racking up similar metres and multiple tackle breaks as well. Against a depleted Roosters team, Goodwin should be in line to bust plenty of tackles once again and end up with a nice Draftstars score.
Aaron Gray ($8,550)
Playing his preferred position last week, Gray was solid but unspectacular, ending with 105 metres, two offloads and a tackle break in South Sydney’s dominant win. He gets another chance in the centres this week and will be looking to give more in attack in what is a crucial contest for the Bunnies. He has great try scoring ability, can break the defensive line as well and has good history against the Roosters.
