NRL $1,500+ Warriors v Titans Line-Up
The injury ravaged Titans fly across the ditch this week to verse the Warriors this Sunday . Both teams desperately need a victory to keep their finals hopes alive and the Warriors will be boosted by the inclusion of Kieran Foran in his first game for the club.
Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $1,500+ Warriors v Titans competition
Front Row Forward
Ryan James ($17,250)
After controversially escaping suspension for his reckless shoulder charge on Patrick Kaufusi, James is free to play against the Warriors and boy do the Titans need him. James has been slightly down on his scoring this season, averaging 53 after averaging 60 last season, but the Titans need him more than ever this week and the skipper should be in for a big score. He’s a tackling and running machine and if he can rediscover his try scoring form, he will go big.
Jarrod Wallace ($9,850)
After crossing over from the Broncos, Wallace has been excellent this season as James’ partner in the front row. He showed his scoring potential in limited minutes last season and has started this year with a bang, averaging 49.20 Draftstars points. He has played at least 63 minutes in every game this season and has laid a minimum of 34 tackles. This sort of consistency is unparalleled at his price tag and will make him one of the most popular selections this week.
Hooker
Isaac Luke ($13,500)
The cupboard is bare at hooker this week, with just Luke and Tyrone Roberts to choose from. Roberts has been named to play at fullback, which will limit his scoring potential due to the lack of tackles. Luke is not the sexiest of picks – he is averaging just 34.5 Draftstars points this year – but he has played full games from round two onwards and will be given every chance to lay a bunch of tackles. He also has a proven scoring history after averaging 47.6 points last season.
Second Row Forward
Bodene Thompson ($15,450)
Thompson looks to have rediscovered his form from last year after a standout performance last week in which he dominated from the edge for the Warriors in a losing cause. After an interrupted pre-season, Thompson found himself playing minutes at hooker in round one and at centre in round two to cover injuries. This led to some terrible scoring in the first two games before he returned to his usual role in the back-row in round three. Last week was the first time he played the full 80 and you can fully expect this to continue this week, meaning that Thompson will be laying a huge number of tackles once again.
Ryan Simpkins ($5,450)
Simpkins has been rushed back from injury and is named at dummy-half for the Titans this week after training at lock throughout the pre-season. This means that he is available in the second-row for this contest, where he is excellent value at just over $5k. In his 50 minutes last week, Simpkins made 30 tackles and scored 37 draftstars points and considering he should be able to replicate this performance, he is too good to refuse.
Centre
Konrad Hurrell ($9,500)
Despite a slight injury cloud, Hurrell is still a solid pick this week in a weak contest for backs. Hurrell will be relied upon to run the ball even more on Sunday due to the injuries the Titans have copped, meaning he is a good chance to break tackles and pick up an offload or two. With the uninspiring options, Hurrell’s ability to get points from a variety of attacking stats is what sets him apart.
Half
Kieran Foran ($9,700)
Picking him in his first game back is risky, but it’s not often that someone of Foran’s talent is available under $10k. The former Sea Eagle dealt with personal issues last year that resulted in him being released from the Eels amid a cloud of gambling and relationship controversies. Despite this, the NRL have allowed him to join the Warriors, who desperately need someone to relieve Shaun Johnson of playmaking duties. Ensure that he is playing before selecting him as there is a high chance he could be a late out again this week, but if he’s named, Foran will be wanting to have a big game to hit back at his doubters.
Wing/Fullback
David Fusitu’a ($9,800)
The middle of the park is looking extremely weak for the Titans, with Dale Copley and Konrad Hurrell in the centres, Ryan Simpkins under an injury cloud at hooker and Leivaha Pulu starting for just the fifth time in his career at lock. This could be good news for Fusitua who has been quiet in the last three weeks after scoring a hat-trick in round one. In what should be a high scoring game, it would be surprising if Fusitua doesn’t find the try line.
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck ($8,650)
The Warriors skipper has had an interrupted start to the season after suffering a concussion against the Storm that forced him to miss the round three clash against the Raiders. Despite this, he looked excellent in round one against the Knights, where he managed a try assist, a line break, a line break assist and seven tackle breaks. The Knights are the second leakiest defence in the league and the Titans are third, which should mean plenty of opportunities for Tuivasa-Sheck to fill the attacking stats.
