NRL $2,000+ Rabbitohs v Titans Line-Up
A depleted Titans team travels to Sydney this Friday night to take on the Rabbitohs at ANZ Stadium. The 13th placed Titans are missing three Origin stars and have been forced to make two additional changes due to injury which has made their side barely recognisable from the outfit that lost to the Warriors last week. The Bunnies are basically at full strength and will be looking to make a statement at home, where they are yet to win this season.
Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $2,000+ Rabbitohs v Titans competition
Front Row Forward
Sam Burgess ($18,750)
He doesn’t come cheap, but given his recent form it is tough to leave out the big Englishman. Burgess has been unbelievable in the last four weeks, averaging 73.8 Draftstars points on the back of some truly dominant performances. His running game has been extremely influential and has seen him rack up huge metre totals, plenty of tackle breaks and the occasional try. Against a Titans pack that is missing Jarrod Wallace and Nathan Peats, Burgess is every chance to dominate through the centre of the park and end up with a massive score which may include a try or two.
Nathaniel Peteru ($6,100)
In order to afford the likes of Burgess, you have to take a few risks on cheaper guys, and Peteru is the perfect option in this contest. Peteru comes cheap thanks to some low minute totals in his last four matches, however, when given the opportunity to play, he generally scores well. In the two games he’s played over 30 minutes this season, he’s scored 31.4 and 39.1 Draftstars points respectively and in 2016 he averaged 28.5 Draftstars points in 28.7 minutes per game, albeit in just three games. Considering he’s been given the start this week, there is every chance he plays significant minutes which will lead to a handy score.
Hooker
Pat Politoni ($8,600)
Whilst he hasn’t seen any NRL action since 2015, Politoni has been reasonable in his twelve games in six years. The Tongan representative has been solid in the Intrust Super Cup for the last couple of years and was sought-out by the Titans to provide much needed depth at dummy-half. His defence is solid and he is a cool head in attack and has the ability to attack out of dummy-half if required. His ability to play big minutes will allow him to build a good Draftstars score, which will provide great value for owners at under $9k.
Second Row Forward
Ryan James ($14,850)
Although James hasn’t been the dominant powerhouse that scored eleven tries last season, he has still been consistently good for the Titans this year. His leadership qualities are impressive and his ability to continually make tackles in defence before going on big runs early in sets is inspiring. With the Titans missing most of their middle forwards, James will be required to play huge minutes and will have to take on a lion’s share of the tackling load. This should mean that he presents good value despite his lofty price tag and makes him a better option than the more expensive Angus Crichton.
Kevin Proctor ($12,500)
Proctor will be keen to amend himself after serving a four-week suspension for being caught with an illicit substance during the Anzac Test. Prior to his suspension, Proctor had been solid for the Titans, providing hard edge running and solid tackling without setting the world alight. In his return, there is no doubt he will be looking to prove his commitment to his teammates by way of tackling and running hard and attacking the Rabbitohs on the edge.
Centre
Tyrell Fuimaono ($9,400)
Having a back-rower available in the centres is ideal as their extra tackling and running numbers ensure that they are a safe bet to outscore the other options. Fuimaono played 48 minutes as a second-rower last week against Brisbane and ended up with 23 tackles and 90 metres from nine runs. It is his ability to break tackles, however, that makes him valuable given that he has broken 15 tackles in his four games. Fuimaono’s power will be tough for the depleted Titans to stop, so there is no reason his good form will not continue.
Half
Adam Reynolds ($13,500)
Reynolds has been a solid contributor in what has been a disappointing season overall for Souths. His cool hand in attack and his precision kicking game give the Rabbitohs the little attacking flair that they do possess and it is usually because of Reynolds that they score. In Souths four wins this season, Reynolds averages 60.8 Draftstars points thanks to his ability to fill a variety of attacking stats, namely try and line break assists. His kicking game almost always produces massive metre totals which allows Reynolds to score well even when he isn’t having a great night in attack. Given that the Bunnies should beat the Titans, though, it would be wise to invest in their star playmaker.
Wing/Fullback
Bryson Goodwin ($10,100)
After signing a deal to head to the English Super League at the end of the season, it seems that Rabbitohs fans will have to say goodbye to an excellent clubman. Goodwin has been especially good in the last three weeks this season as he’s moved into the centres and has been used as a more frequent ball runner. This has seen him break tackles more frequently and eat metres for the Bunnies as they thrust forward. Against the Titans he will once again be used in this capacity, which should see him score around his last three games average of 38.82.
William Zillman ($5,000)
Zillman has basically been terrible this season on the wing for the Titans, with a best Draftstars score of just 9.70. Because of this he is extremely cheap for this contest, where he provides value because he has been named at fullback for the first time this season. When donning the number one in nine games last season, Zillman averaged a reasonable 21.9 Draftstars points thanks to some solid metre eating and the occasional attacking play. Anthony Don and John Olive are of similar pricing, so if you believe either of these wingers are likely to find the try line, then they present value as well.
