NRL $500+ Tigers v Titans Line-Up
It should be an even contest on Friday night as the fourteenth placed Titans take on the last placed Tigers. The Tigers looked good against a depleted Sharks outfit last week, but have still lost their last six games in a row by an average margin of 15 points. The Titans have lost their last four as well, so both teams will be desperate to taste victory.
Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $500+ Tigers v Titans competition
Front Row Forward
Jarrod Wallace ($11,000)
Wallace had little impact in his first Origin game, playing just 22 minutes for 15 tackles and 22 metres from two runs. This should mean he is fresh for Friday night, where he will be asked to play a much larger role for the Titans who rely heavily on the big man for forward thrust. His metre-eating ability is as good as any prop in the competition and has seen him record some massive numbers this year, including two 200+ metre performances. Considering he’s also a workhorse in defence, he is an absolute bargain at $11k.
Ava Seumanufagai ($9,150)
ASeumanufagai had his best game of the year last week as he stepped up in Aaron Woods’ absence and made a whopping 185 metres from 18 runs. The Tigers have been using him more frequently as a ball runner which has resulted in a nice uptick in his Draftstars scoring. After averaging 93.3 running metres from 9.9 runs per game in the first seven rounds, he has lifted to 126.8 metres from 13 runs per game in the last six games. This increased confidence in attack has also translated to defence, where his tackling numbers have increased as well. This should continue and it makes him wonderful value in this contest.
Hooker
Jacob Liddle ($8,550)
After playing behind Matt McIlwrick for much of the season, Liddle has been given the chance to start this week after a standout performance that saw him overtake McIlwrick in the pecking order. He ended up with 35 tackles and a try after a nice run out of dummy-half. Given that Liddle has been named to start this week it can be presumed that he will see more minutes than McIlwrick, and in games in which that has happened he has averaged 36.3 Draftstars points.
Second Row Forward
Ryan James ($13,950)
James established himself as one of the most dominant front-rowers in the competition last season, but has struggled to maintain his impact this year. His running game is down and it has resulted in a subdued attacking game this season, lacking the trademark tackle busting runs that resulted in tries so often last season. However with the Titans pack close to full strength this week, James will not be marked as heavily, which should see his metre totals increase and will hopefully result in some other attacking plays from the Titans’ leader.
Kevin Proctor ($11,950)
In his first game back from suspension, Proctor made an immediate impact for the Titans by crossing over for a try in the first half. Along with this, he ended up making 28 tackles, running 86 metres with one tackle break and two offloads in a solid performance in a losing team. With Jarrod Wallace and Nathan Peats back through the middle, the Titans should be able to create more space on the edge for Proctor which should see him become even more damaging in attack.
Centre
Konrad Hurrell ($10,250)
Hurrell has been phenomenal recently and has always looked to be the Titans most likely source of attack thanks to his powerful running game. He currently leads the club in tackle breaks, sits second for metres gained, line breaks and tries and has recorded the third most offloads. Clearly he’s dangerous and his statistical dominance has resulted in some great Draftstars scoring. The Tigers’ defence is guaranteed to break down at some stage in the game and there is no one better at the Titans at creating and exploiting holes than Hurrell.
Half
Ashley Taylor ($10,900)
Taylor is one of the brightest young stars in the NRL and he always stands up when the Titans play well. Considering the Tigers currently sit at the bottom of the ladder, there will be every chance for Taylor to guide his troops around the park and put in a standout performance as the Gold Coast look for their fifth win of the season. He almost always plays a hand when the Titans’ score, whether it be assisting it or scoring himself and his kicking game is a weapon in itself. His class as a creator is so outstanding that he sits sixth in the league in try assists despite the Titans sitting fourteenth on the ladder.
Wing/Fullback
James Tedesco ($14,100)
After a standout performance in Origin I, Teddy was great again in game two, assisting on two of the three tries scored by New South Wales and making 153 metres. After game one, he came back to club level and made 173 metres, got a try assist, a line break and broke eleven tackles. His ability to back up after a big game is phenomenal and will hold him in good stead as he attempts to provide spark from the back when returning Ash Taylor’s kicks. Expect some huge metres and a big game from Tedesco.
Tyrone Roberts ($10,000)
Roberts is finally back in the halves and he comes at a significant discount thanks to some mediocre performances at fullback. There is no doubt that Roberts is at his best in the halves, and his Draftstars points show this. Last year, he averaged 39.9 points playing almost exclusively at five-eighth and this year he averaged just 23.5 points due to his significant time at fullback. Expect Roberts to be back at his best this week as he and Ash Taylor resume their partnership.
