Here is a team you may consider for the NRL $5k+ Friday competition

Front Row Forward

George Burgess ($9,950)

A couple of years ago George Burgess was one of the most destructive ball carriers in the NRL, an almost unstoppable force who regularly required three defenders to bring him down. George went from acquiring 67 tackle breaks in 2015 to dropping to a mere 18 in 2016. However, it must be kept in mind that he was suffering from a groin injury last year. Worth the bargain.

J J Felise ($5,950)

J J Felise averaged around 47 with a Points Per Minute of 0.936 in 2015 and 40.7 with a 0.7 Points Per Minute average last year. He will add a lot more to the interchange bench than someone like Joel Edwards or Michael Chee Kam does.

Hooker

Robbie Farah ($14,250))

Farah’s a quality all-round scorer at hooker who thrives when playing the full 80 minutes. He played four 80 minute games last season and averaged 59 (including a top score of 72) in them. However, he also had another five games in which he averaged just 52 minutes and in those games his average was 38.2. With Cook on the bench and Cameron McInnes at the Rabbits – one could argue this is a risk but Adam Reynolds effectively negates that. Playing against his old club Robbie will be pumped – should get big numbers.

James Tedesco

Second Row Forward

Chris Lawrence ($11,250)

Lawrence made a big improvement to the defence on one edge, since his move from Centre to the Second Row and his link-up play will help the Tigers outside backs. The fact that he has averaged close to 40 fantasy points in the Second Row shows he is a solid selection. The Tigers Halves also have a tendency to put in a grubber kick for Chris Lawrence – so the potential is there.

Jason Clark ($10,750)

Jason Clark is the Rabbitohs’ interchange specialist with 53 of his 59 appearances in the last three years coming from the bench, including all 23 appearances last season. He’s a very hard working defender who made the 8th highest tackles per minute (for players with 100 tackles) last season. Always a shoe-in for a close-range try – Clark is consistent.

Centre

Jamal Idris ($6,500)

Jamal Idris averaged over 40 in 2014 and 2015. The only reason to doubt him would be if he ended up on the interchange bench but the Tigers would seem better served to just start him – especially seeing that they will want him to get some game time under his belt. No Tim Simona also helps him here. Either way, getting a potential keeper Centre at that price is pretty much a no-brainer.

Half

Cody Walker ($15,550)

Walker was the Rabbits’ best player last season but he only got to play because Luke Keary was suspended for Round 1 and then Adam Reynolds got injured. With Adam Reynolds being injured again this year, Cody Walker will fit in seamlessly. He can switch between fullback and half – giving him Dual Position Points. More importantly, in the games Reynolds missed last season Cody Walker took on the goal kicking duties – which is more fantasy points! Talking about fantasy points he averages over 85 points against the West Tigers. Pricey, but worth it.

Wing/Fullback

James Tedesco ($15,850)

James Tedesco showed no signs of slowing down last year and he can definitely score a try against the Rabbitohs, with six from eight games. Tries, tackle breaks, run metres – James Tedesco gives you exactly what you want in an NRL Fantasy fullback. It is worth noting in the 40 games in which Tedesco has played the full 80 minutes he averages 54.35. His battle with Greg Inglis will be riveting and Tedesco will be looking to make an early statement.

Jordan Rankin ($7,500)

Rankin played more games last season for the Tigers than he did in six seasons with the Titans. He played ok last season but the Tigers will gain a lot more from him with Idris at centre. Being the goal kicker also helps and the fact that he can always slot in in the halves. Cash Cow.
